wow -- first use of the phrase "back in the day" -- some 20 years before it became an "urban" staple.

Believe so, and I said I wondered why Daved never plays it.

BOS from me, and it looks like a mighty fine first half of the set before I got here.

Bob brings things down a notch or twelve with "Dreamweaver", which he plays (as usual) in '75.  We were doing so well for a while there.

Bob's having a fine week. Methinks the streak may end tomorrow with '85, but nice work so far. Kudos to Chi-town.

And  speaking of Chicago, why did they put a Cardinal on the cover of Chicago VIII, and not a Cub?

I wouldn't have expected Chicago to fare so poorly in the voting:

Styx
   Lorelei     10.1%
Ozark Mountain Daredevils
   Jackie Blue     18.2%
Bad Company
   Shooting Star     7.4%
Jefferson Starship
   Play on Love     5.4%
Paul Simon
50 Ways to Leave Your Lover     5.1%
Pink Floyd
   Wish You Were Here     13.9%
Chicago
   Harry Truman     3.0%
Gary Wright
   Dream Weaver     7.4%
Sweet
   Ballroom Blitz     21.3%
John Lennon
   Stand By Me     8.1%

I'm afraid I don't like it.  Clarinets rarely sound good to me, and this overall just seems too self-consciously old-timey.  THOSE WOI DA DAYYYS ...

Er, well... yes. I do believe that is the point.

And not surprising from a band who got together and emphasized horns because they appreciated '40s Big Band stuff.

Heh.  Emphasis on *self-consciously*.  Didn't sound natural.
