In fact, i think they're giving away a prize every time they play "Rock This Town" all week. So maybe we'll escape unscathed.

And was Saga the poor man's Styx or the poor man's Loverboy?

The destitute, living-in-a-cardboard-box man's Loverboy  WOS from me, I don't understand the love for this one.

I missed the opening, BTW -- is this supposed to be date-specific, or just generic '82?

I think Dave just nailed it. '82, the year of Asia, was rife with it.

BOS tie so far Simple Minds & Roxy Music.

another Morey fave: Flash & the Pan. Not even how'd'you do.

Sorry to wear crankypants at a birthday party; but this is pretty rote stuff. Is this what KFOG sounded like their first week?  Guess some R&B is out of the question, eh?  Or at least Kim Wilde.

Yep, I did--thanks for asking. Spent the weekend beachcombing in west Marin, then paid a visit to Village Music yesterday afternoon. It was kind of a zoo, but they've marked everything down for the last month, and John was taking in cash hand over fist. They've got a bunch of old R&B posters and the like for pretty cheap--I picked up one featuring Tyrone Davis playing at Keshia's Inn in Oakland for about $10, and another with Little Jimmy Scott playing one of the fabled Village Music parties at the Sweetwater for $5. And all the vinyl is marked down too.

Three notes on the setlists as posted on kfog.com:

1) today's BOS was Saga, but Big Rick played Roxy Music this evening instead (& I thought he liked prog rock!)

2) there was no bonus track listed today, anybody catch what it was?

3) they musta got a new intern...last week "The Beatles (Yay!)" suddenly replaced "The Beatles (Yeah!)".

I thought he didn't do that anymore?  We suddenly started getting 2- and 3-way ties recently after a long period of only one daily winner (which was supposedly in deference to Big Rick's BOS replay).

I don't think there was a bonus track yesterday--probably due to the Rock of Ages promo they have going on.

Maybe Rick took matters into his own hands, because he always played the bonus track between 5:50 & 6:00, and yesterday at precisely that time he played the Roxy track.  However I flipped channels & don't know if he actually said anything about it.
