Title: 11 September 2007--1987
Post by: urth on September 11, 2007, 10:05:41 AM
Dave said we needed a good year today. Guess Don didn't spin the wheel hard enough.

Solitude Standing is the TOTHC.

Missed the intro, did he say anything about vinyl today?  Cuz he's been doing that a lot lately & if he did I'd predict we get Rock & Hyde.

I felt the same way when 87 came up, but Solitude Standing is a great record.  I listened a little closer than normal since I figured it might be the best we get.

at least we get the CH that's merely a Usual Suspect, rather than the other two tracks which are Egregious Katrinas.

ETA:  as much as Dave clearly loves him his CH, doesn't this album (which I've never listened to, so I don't know) have a 4th or 5th track worthy of airplay?

No mention of vinyl.

Second track was the BoDeans, then I got distracted by a cow orker, came back to hear Crowded House, WWYL, which I'm guessing is #3.  Not bad--wish we could hear Mean to Me some time.

Easy BOS vote: World Party, "Ship of Fools."

Yep, the most likely recipient of my vote so far.

How many times have we heard Sign o the Times this year?

ditto, a song we've heard more often on April 1, than in 1987 sets.

BOS #3 to Prince, which Mike complained for years that Dave never played, and now he's played it 3 times in '07.

Urth, you and I are doing that creepy same wavelength thing again today, you answered one of my questions before you could have seen my post, and now I have done the same for your question.

Jeez, you're right--I hadn't even realized you'd inquired about the CH record, and now you returned the favor with the SOTT tally. Spooky indeed.

BOS2 the Smiths, although I can't say I know the name of the song.

indeed -- it's funny, KFOG played "DDIO" right before 6am, and my first thought was ""Dave's gonna do '87 today and we're gonna hear this again".

Not real sorry to have missed this year today.

Actually, hearing the replay I have to say this was not at all bad, considering this is one of the worst years on the wheel.  The Prince is always welcome, even if it's becoming a mini-trina (plenty of other great tracks on that double-LP, Dave), and  ditto the Smiths.
