Birthday request for Robert, superhit #6 from this day, each of those years.
And in '72, that song is....Backstabbers, O'Jays. Good start, eh?
-
Whut dey doin'?
This could be interesting -- wish I had my Billboard chart books handy.
-
Mr Simon snatches a little purity. BOS1.

I have my #1 Hits book, but it only lists the top 5 for the week that each song hit the top of the charts. If it listed the top 6...
-
I've been mia for days. Glad I tuned in. Should be a good set.
dare i hope for disco?

At #6 in the mid to late 70's?
No chance.
-
BOS2 Mr Preston, just for daring to rhyme "highness" with "minus".
-

er... DUH! whatchadoinonyaback?
-
And now Billy P's proclaiming himself a soldier in the war on...poverty? He kinda mumbles that one...
We might get a rarity or two, depending on what songs were in the #6 slot in the given years.
BOS Beegees, You Should Be Dancin'. Whatcha doin' in ya bed?
(Is this disco enough for ya Alicat?)
ETA: Whatdafunk? Hope we get to hear the rest of in an upcoming year.
Meanwhile, we got this BULL-(bleep) goin' down...
-
ahhhhhhh! Dave made a disco mistake!!!!
I guess we should not have been dancin yet.

-
wooo yeah, Fight the Power, the edited version?
Yes. no bull shit here
But I think it was the lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng version, too.
OK, now, whatchadoininyabed?

Gettin' butterflies, Princess? What song are you walking down the aisle to?
-
OK, now, whatchadoininyabed?
since you said it twice, I must protest that it's "on your back", not "in your bed"
I guess it's obvious that Dave wouldn't've agreed to this particular suggestion unless all the #6's were bonafide hits. No obscurities here.

well, the aisle is pretty short in the city hall. but we'll be exchanging rings to some flamenco song sung by a real live flamenco star!
-
BOS Grease
Happy to hear this.
-
Grease is the word, all right-- I'm tempted to WOS this, one of the many anachronistic travesties associated with the film. What was once a sweet, small, off-b'way musical became a crass juggernaut.
-
Spot the vinyl -- pretty easy today!
-
spot that vinyl! LOL!

Mondegreen, pal, mondegreen. (My version, that is.)

And no sooner said than we get a scratchy vinyl version of Grease. As close to a rarity as we gonna get, but I'll take it.
-
Hey Dave, it does exist on CD, ya know...
OMFG! WOS2 Robert John. *shudder*.

Hey, it's your favorite lecher!
-
watcha doin with that knife in your back?
yo, here's your man Mr Benson -- he wants to give you the, uh, night.
Yay Juice Newton! Layin' out another line (she actually sang this at a Nancy Reagan "Just Say No" luncheon, which I thought was hilarious).
-
BOS Juice Newton. I'm not too proud to admit that I still love this song.
-
I bet having the opportunity to play Juice Newton was the clincher for Dave.
-

Benson-as-letch JINX!

just checked, Dave played this as the 1981 entry last August 14th in a VT that went 74-83.
