maybe '83 or '81. I'm no as clever as most of you, and I missed the intro.

"Mexican radio" says "83" to me, as does Translator.

Nope, the intro said 82, so Rod nailed it. But thinking this is indeed a classic.

Yay! Maybe I'll take the rest of the day off to celebrate.
I wish...

does not compute indeed -- Dave played this in his last "new" '82 set, and Judge played it Monday, so I'm oversatured with purpleness.

Yep, it's a classic--found it in the Shraytabase. Aired as a classic on Dec 31, 2004. Nothing too earth-shattering coming up, sorry to say. (But no Men At Work either--so that's a positive!)

Y'know how we know Dave's gay?
"the disco hotspots hold no charm for you..."

Hey Rod, it's good to see you dropping in more often lately. Hope you can keep it up!

I finally plugged in my radio. Can't stream anymore, and reception is iffy... Still really busy, but I need outlets, too.

I love music from this era but Toni Basil gets a WOS from me. This belongs on Hits From Hell (it was on there once right?).

We all have our guilty pleasures in music, just like in food. I love this song, but will not argue its greatness either!

Robert Christgau insists "any way you wanna do it/I'll take it like a man" is a reference to, er, back-door sex. So whenever I hear it I get a visual of Ms Basil... well, never mind. Maybe she should hook up with Andy Kim.
"Saving the best for last", said Dave of this good but far-from transcendent rerun. For the record, the marathon went 70/Elvis/88/78/82.
And SF Guy is right, this is one of those songs that has appeared in both HFH and "regular" sets -- it may have been in "Guilty Pleasures" once too.
