Dave whips out his big 10-inch.

Dave whips out his big 10-inch.
followed by "How Long?" ROTFL -- oh, Dave, you naughty boy.
-
And a fab 10-inch it is, too. (Has Marilynn over on KPOO ever tracked this one in her litany of dirty songs?)
Followed up by a song even I will admit is probbly a '75 'trina--How Long.
-

She has indeed played the original version (or one of 'em). Can't remember the artist at the moment.
-
Undeniable BOS1, Macca's Venus and Mars>Rock Show.
-
and the ring at the end of Paul's nose makes him look rather pretty. BOS "V&M"
-
BOS #2 (10" was the 1st) the other Paul & Linda.
The tension mounts, you score an ounce, Ole!
ETA: how do I make an 'E' with an accent mark? "Ole!" just doesn't look right without one.

He should have followed those with Little Willy. (And it'd work, year-wise, too.)

Dave hasn't played 10" in over four years, last time being his last By-The-Numbers set. OTOH, Ace apears in every third '75 set without fail.

actually, LW is from '73. But "Love Hurts" or "Only Women Bleed", OTOH...
-
and another '75 frequent-flier, "Amie". whatchoo gonna do?

that's gross.

BOS #3 PPL "Amie"
but a definite Boo-Hiss to Dave for not making it a "Falling In & Out Of Love/Amie" twin spin.

This trina is BOS for me.
Amie always good too.
Great year.
-
BOS2 da Joizey Boyz! Id've preferred "Swearin' to God", but this'll do. Highly recommend seeing Jersey Boys before it closes in Sept.
-
i don't know the smileyface for deadpan.
:-| ?
BOS3 (after the Macca & Ambrosia) Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons.
-
Who loves you pretty baby?
VHM
-
i don't know the smileyface for deadpan.

BOS3 (after the Macca & Ambrosia) Frankie Vallee & the 4 Seasons.
that's Frahnkay Vallay, monsieur!

yikes, another seeming 'trina, Dwight Twilley.
-
yikes, another seeming 'trina, Dwight Twilley.
Seems that way to me, too--if this isn't at least as common as the Ace tune, I'd be shocked.
-
Paging Gaz--they's playin' yo' song!
ETA: Which reminds me: I was in a used book store in my 'hood last night, and ran across a signed, first edition copy of Grace Slick's "Somebody To Love?" The kicker was the name it was signed to: To Paul.
Naaah, couldn't be.
(Btw, it was priced $50. I passed.)
-
OMG! BOS3 "Miracles" -- Gaz will be PISSED!
-
BOS Miracles.
proxy BOS for Gaz
-
I vote this set of the week. SOTW
I'm swirlin and dancin.
-
OMG! BOS3 "Miracles" -- Gaz will be PISSED!
Any bets as to whether this is the l-o-o-o-o-ong version or not?

ladies and gentlemen... it IS! A taste of the real world, indeed.

BOS4 Ch-Ch-Ch-Chaka! Once you get started with that big 10-inch...
-
BOS, WAR.
major flashback.
-
Third K-candidate of the set: War, Why Can't We Be Friends?
-
Why can't we hear a bustout? An enjoyable set, but pretty familiar territory overall.
-
yikes, another seeming 'trina, Dwight Twilley.
Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, appears in my Db more frequently than this song.
Neither Fine Young Cannibals nor Robbie Neville nor Crowded House.
And Ace is now tied with the latter three.
-
Third K-candidate of the set: War, Why Can't We Be Friends?
To be fair, this is literally half the Katrina that Ace & Dwight are. Barely worth inclusion in the category.
-
Excellent, BOS Miracles.
As it should have been.
-
Bull Moose Jackson! That's the one!
-

She has indeed played the original version (or one of 'em). Can't remember the artist at the moment.
And Dave answers that query himself--Bullmoose Jackson.

Dude, buy it and I'll reimburse you. Or tell me where to find it & I'll call and reserve it.
Seriously!
-
Well, I'll stick around for Annalisa's big 10-inch boner, uh, bonus. But then it's off to CG for Dean's Final Jukebox

Wow, I'm surprised -- but I guess our perceptions are colored by hearing 4 10@10s a day -- Bob plays that one fairly regularly if I'm not mistaken.

OK, I'll try to get in there and grab it. It's at Black Oak Books on Irving between 7th & 8th, if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

I wasn't thinking it popped up as often as either the Ace or Twilley tunes, but I'd have said it was a more frequent flyer than being barely qualified. (Sometimes I think my perceptions may be skewed by the archive sets I listen to, tho.)

Holy crap! Annalisa saves the day with Jeff Beck's "She's a Woman" -- ah, the peak period of the vocoder!
-
I wonder what other albums Annalisa had picked out? Not that I'm complaining, just curious.
Probably would have specified Freeway Jam, but this is good.
-
Wow, good on Annalisa & good on the the lady Foghead - Jeff Beck's "She's A Woman".
Best Bonus of the Week...or even Month!
(Oh wait, the month is shorter than the week right now. Nevermind)
-

She mentioned Zep too, but the Fogheadette jumped on Beck as soon as Annalisa said the name.
-
Probably would have specified Freeway Jam, but this is good.
to append Mike's note, Annalisa mentioned a couple of Physical Graffitti tracks, then "Freeway Jam" & "She's A Woman", then the lady foghead said Jeff Beck for sure...but it seems Annalisa chose between the two tracks mentioned.

speaking of which, my hair is now long enough to tie into a robbie nevil ponytail. wot's it to ya?
my 2nd bos would have gone to annalisa, but i ducked out early to go stand in line for some free indian dance concert. i never heard a sitar hurt so bad. my friends and i left to go eat pulpo (octopus) at a galician tapas bar.

Your avatar reminds me: I saw the trailer for the new Elizabeth sequel, with The Blanchett starring opposite Clive Owen as (curse) Sir Walter Raleigh (he was such a stupid git). Yummy!

Well, at least I got back from the 'Burgh well in time for the replay tonight. But first: I'm off to Brooklyn Bridge Park for a free showing of Hair. It'll be a Treat.
Gleamin', flaxen, waxen Gaz
PS: VVHM to "Why Can't We Be Friends," which never fails to make me smile.
-
And the replay begins.

i was telling my student a story about ironsmiths and blacksmiths yesterday. he frowned and asked, "are those bands like aerosmith?"

Mark, I tried to get the book last night, but they'd just closed at 9:55 (losers!) when I arrived at their door. Can't go tonight (Yo La Tengo at Bimbo's so I'm not going home after work) but I'll get in there sometime tomorrow.
