So I'm on hold with some doctor's office, and I get to hear almost all of Ben E King's "Supernatural Thing" -- interplanetary!! extra-ordinary!! -- and it turns out it's a oldies station in Merced with, like, the worst morning jock ever, and it's "Wolfman Wednesday" (!), where they play old Wolfman Jack clips and people call up and do "the Wolfman howl" for prizes. And they say local radio is dead...

wow! go merced! actually, i've found that radio in small towns is much more varied than sf radio. i don't know what's wrong with sf radio! there's more variety in all other major cities. even fresno has more variety.
