An instant WOS to one I was just bitching about. "Lawd, I am SO ti'd." Beshet.

I disliked his version too. But I hate Devo's because the exaggeration of the line I quoted above sounds like sonic blackface to me.
And no crankypants here, but WOS2 to "Talk to Ya Later," the beginning of the Tube's downward spiral into needing a HIT. Betcha we get "Find Your Way Back" before we're done.

That WOULD be unfortunate, but I have a soft spot for 1981 Tubes, since I had a crush on my RA (freshman year) who played that record.

Of course you realize...
Don Henley must die!
Don't let him get back together
With Glenn Frey!

Devo always had some sort of subtext to their songs, but I was never sure what their motive was for doing WIACM. But I am fully with you on the line in question--seems like they hired their own version of Kingfish to interject that line.
And you're also dead on about the Tubes' desperation for a hit. They'd just been dropped by A&M and Capitol took a flyer on them, but obviously there was some quid pro quo. They hired David Foster to remake their sound and deliver a hit--and he did.

I think he's referring to the Mojo Nixon song of the same name. And so far as I know, the Eagles are an ongoing group, playing casinos and such, or anywhere that offers a fat paycheck.

BOS SuperFreak.
Listening but not posting, connection tooooo slllooooowwwwwww today.

Might be just me, but I'm not hearing anything in this set that is setting my world on fire. Magnificent Seven is as close as we've gotten, but even that is sounding kinda samey.
-
What do we have for entertainment? Co-BOSes to Rick James and the Clash, who also tie for Best Bass Line of Set.

I'll whip out the crystal ball, then, and prognosticate that we close with some Joe Dolce.

BOS for Donnie Iris. Very representative sound, but better than most. Got a little Lunatic Fringe decorating the edges of that one.

Going to agree with that. The Squeeze was nice, too, and U2 as well, but overall I'm still not feeling too enthusiastic about any of it.

Obviously KFOG and 'BCO are streaming today, business as usual, but has anyone run across any other stations they usually listen to that are off the web today? (Today's the moratorium on streaming to protest the proposed exhorbitant raise in royalties for internet broadcasters.)
ETA: KPIG is streaming today too, as is WLUW, a station I listen to on occasion from Chicago. Haven't checked KPOO yet.
