A great song from a great LP, tho' it's a Katrina (duh).  And heeeere's Hothouse Flowers.

One bustout, Dave, that's all I'm asking.

1988...as I semi predicted this morning.

Gonna BOS Mr. Earle & then hit the road to a 10:30 appointment.

Bet Dave plays Cowboy Junkies "Sweet Jane", since I mentioned it duringthe KBCO set.

Steve Earle is waaay down the list of Katrinas for this year, but I won't argue, although HHF & Midnight Oil are bonafides.

Let's see...7 songs left...I bet we get The Church, Crowded House, George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Terence Trent, Traveling Wilburys & Ziggy Marley.

Ciao!

Well, two down since Mark left and so far he's O for two but I'm not expecting that will last.

Still no strong BOS candidates, imo, but Bryan Ferry ain't sounding too bad.

Ah, here's TTD--Mark's up to one for three.

And it's a kiss-and-tell twofer.

Having just heard "If You Let Me Stay" on CG yesterday, I'm reminded what a fab LP this was, and how this is the only cut Dave ever plays.

OMG! BOS "Crash", not a bustout but rare enuf, at least compared to everything else we've heard.  Debbie Harry's cover of "Liar Liar" would follow this nicely -- but don't hold yer breath.

BOS2 Beetlejuice,  a movie I only sort-of liked when I saw it in a theater, but repeated cable viewings have made it a fave.

How could Mark have forgotten the Smither-treen(a)s?

OK, here's my BOS: Smithereens, Only a Memory. Not their best song (Behind The Wall of Sleep gets that honor), but in '88 it'll do. (And we didn't know how big a conservative Pat DiNizio was then.)

Two for seven: CH, BBHS. Didn't even need the crystal ball for this one.

another mshray prediction: Crowded House.

It's not that this has been painful or anything, but the small pool Dave selects from for '87 -thru- '96 sets is a major sore point.  When will we get our first '97 set, anyway?

05/31/2007 - Thursday! A great visit to...1988!!!

1.  Steve Earle - Copperhead Road
2.  Hothouse Flowers - Don't Go
3.  Midnight Oil - Dreamworld
4.  REM - Turn You Inside Out
5.  Bryan Ferry - Kiss & Tell
6.  Terence Trent D'Arby - Wishing Well
7.  Primitives - Crash
8.  John Hiatt - Paper Thin
9.  Smithereens - Only a Memory (BEST OF SET!!)
10.  Crowded House - Better Be Home Soon

BONUS TRACK:  Ziggy Marley - Tomorrow People

Do I get credit for the bonus track?

According to my Db (badly in need of an update now) the closest thing to a recent bustout was Mr. Ferry (only 1 previous appearance between 4/02 & 10/06) followed by Mr. Hiatt (twice) & Ms. Primitive (thrice).

After that everything ranged from 4 appearances (Smithereens & Earle) to 11 (TTD'A).  There are 27 sets in my Db, and only 22 songs with single entries.

Ginger already mentioned she's going to 1988 tomorrow, what's the over/under on how many songs she plays that are in my Db only one time or not at all?  I'm gonna say 4.  (keeping in mind that today Dave scored a 1)
