I have a hunch about either '75 or '77.
Psychic abilities strike again! Best double palindrome of set: ABBA SOS. (the only time in chart history that's happened, BTW.)
-
Judging by Dave's little "ABBA nudge nudge comment" it could be either.
And it's '75! Leading off with S-O-S.
-
Strange Madge --- ICK!
Betting on Ambrosia, Ace, and/or 10cc.

Given my lousy track record of prognostication yesterday, I'm leaving the crystal ball in the closet.
-
all hail the Mighty Zep! BOS "Trampled under Foot", the closest thing to a dance record in their catalog.
-
VHM Doobs, cheatin' that hangman one mo' once.
-
Not a bad set so far, but this is a take on '75 I've heard before (and know well). As I've said often of late, waiting for that bustout (or at least a rarely played tune) to put this set over the top. Disregarding what I said about the crystal ball, a little dose of Mondo Bondage would do just that. (Love WDYWFL, but we've heard it.)
Mike's crystal ball seems to be in working order tho--here's 10cc's Blackmail.
-
and 10cc appear -- but i didn't really need psychic powers for this. If only I could "Blackmail" Dave into playing "Life is a Minestrone" some time.
-
Now THIS is more like it. BOS Fox on the Run!!
-
Susan Ford -- "Fox on the Run"? LOL!
BOS Sweet, not a bustout but rare enuf for a vote.
-
BOS3 Leon -- I was just thinking when we heard "Rainbow in Your Eyes" recently that dave oughta pull this out in the next '75 set.
-
Oh dear god no--not The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald....
ETA: Nope, just a sound clip of a radio exchange about the actual wreck, not the song. Dwight Twilley follows instead.

the gales of November, remembered. But the Lightfoot song was a hit in '76, so you're, um, rescued.

'cause you ain't you ain't you ain't got no lifeboat!
-
jeez, even Bruce represented by a Katrina.
Sweet came closest to lighting a fire, but this was pretty by-the-numbers today.

If the boat actually caught fire as it was sinking, this may have been Dave's gauchest segue ever.
My missed-set BOS goes to "Trampled Under Foot." But only because Dave's ignored "Miracles" for over a year (though I think he may have used "Fast Buck Freddie" as a TOTHK in the interim).
-
did I detect a hint of "screw Big Rick, it's a tie, dammit!" in Dave's voice? LOL!
-
And a belated BOS2 for Bruce, BTR.
-
RubyRubyRubyRuby! Glad i stuck around long enuf after the Bonus to hear the Kaiser Chiefs.

-
BOS2 Doobs, excellent. Better when able to volumize which is undoable during the morning b'cast.
-
VHM Blackmail. Haven't heard in eons.
Sounds better than it did earlier.
-
BFOS Fox on the Run. Another not heard in a while.

Best Fox of Set? Not much competition there . . .
-
I want to hear Elmer Fudd doing Bruce's Fire.
-
jeez, even Bruce represented by a Katrina.
Let us not forget how phenomenal that production really was, mind.
-
I want to hear Elmer Fudd doing Bruce's Fire.
AHAHAHA I've heard that back in the 'Burgh: "Fiii-Wuh!"
-
BOS to "Why Can't We Be Friends" and shame on you all for not acknowledging its presence the first time! :P

TANC Of The Week: not 10 minutes after this set ended on the marathon, I switched to KPIG and they played Mr Lightfoot's epic. And damned if it wasn't great to hear.

BOS3 Leon -- I was just thinking when we heard "Rainbow in Your Eyes" recently that dave oughta pull this out in the next '75 set.
So I looked this up in Whitburn and was surprised to see that "Lady Blue" and "Tightrope" were Leon's only 2 Top 40 hits. Morey faves "Back To the Island" and "Rainbow in Your Eyes" peaked at 53 and 52, respectively.
Trivia: his wife Mary was a member of Little Stster and part of the extended Family Stone.

Oh wow, I didn't know that - I should find out how to update/modify AMG bios! (I wrote Little Sister's and omitted this fact.)
