Some guy named Tanner's BD request. Thank god he didn't ask for the year he got out of HS.
Come all, without...come all, within...

Nope, he asked for the year Dave got out of high school!
Mighty Manfred Mann is the TotHK!

Non-music-related comment: Has anyone ever seen "The Mighty Quinn" movie with Denzel Washington? It's at least 10 years old and is a great movie to check out sometime...

I thought Dave graduated in '69.
BOS2, Fever Tree.
-
Fever Tree make their 2nd appearance of the week. They got a ton o'mileage outta one song.
-
Out there it's summertime, milk and honey days,
Oh, San Francisco girls with their...hooded sweatshirts in the middle of July.
-
Yay. Enjoying set. might not be able to post
-
BOS3, Small Faces--Tin Soldier. Surprised we didn't get a Vietnam clip leading into this, but I'm glad to hear it either way. Great electric piano & organ from McLagan. RIP Steve Marriott.
-
BOS S&G, I've got some real estate here in my bag.
-

But you just did! And we're happy to see you (and Dolly).
Michigan seems like a dream to me now...

The NBC newscaster that was covering the announcement of RFK's death sounded positively deflated.
Starting to head toward 10-way tie territory. BOS5 the Beatles (yay).

That's *almost* become a Katrina, although it's not as common as Hugh Masekela or the Beach Boys ""Do It Again".
-
indeed, 10-way-tie methinks. But VVHM ReeRee, trumping Dionne less than a year after Ms W's orig version was a hit. Aretha made quite a habit of doing that to people back then.
-
Woo Hoo! "Sky Pilot"!! He's a good holy man.
-
Yet another candidate--E. Burdon's epic Sky Pilot. Dare we hope for the l-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng version?

I think this was a bustout the previous time we heard it (last March, yes I have my Db open).
BOS whatever "Sky Pilot", which is what the hippie kids at St. Pauls's Lutheran in DC were calling my dad before the song came out.

Yes! I loves me some bagpipes!
-
Moodies! "Peak Hour"! Dave hasn't played this for 3 years.
It makes me want to run out and tell them...those clothes & hairstyles are going to loook awfully silly in the near future.
-
another long song, "Sympathy for the Devil". This set might last past 10:40 now.
-
This has turned into an epic set! Sky Pilot, Peak Hour, and now Sympathy. Superb.
-
Hey guys, if you haven't already seen it, I posted a press release draft over on the stream of consciousness forum, and could use any and all editorial feedback.
thanks
-
Holy S**T!!! We're not done -- it's the Hair medley!!!
-
BOS Aquarius/Hair.......
-
Holy S**T!!! We're not done -- it's the Hair medley!!!
there's a production of this kicking off this weekend at the Mountain Theater on Mt. Tam.
surely not a coincidence.
-
"Tenement sluuuum...."
OMG this was a great set. I'm exhausted!
-
Holy S**T!!! We're not done -- it's the Hair medley!!!
OMFG--and even that wasn't the end! Now we've got Love Child--but if it's Diana, it's got to be the end of the set!
-
Another BOS Love Child
different from the rest
-
I've been streaming, but not listening.. in a meeting. so far Hair BOS.
Best thing about streaming is I can go back and listen.. as long as I keep that browser window open, its like tivo for radio.
Didn't used to stream that way. Is that the case your streams?

I've no idea what you're talking about -- are you using the KFOG player?

Do you mean you're somehow capturing the stream? Tell us more.
Btw, they're starting the evening replay early again. I turned on at 9:52 and they were in the middle of a long commercial break--the set is just starting at 9:56.

Lest we forget...
05/18/2007 - FRIDAY!!! Awesome!! 1968!!
1. Manfred Mann - The Mighty Quinn
2. Fever Tree - San Francisco Girls (Return of the Native)
3. Small Faces - Tin Soldier
4. Simon & Garfunkel - America
5. Beatles (yeah!) - Dear Prudence
6. Aretha Franklin - I Say a Little Prayer
7. Animals - Sky Pilot (BEST OF SET!!)
8. Moody Blues - Peak Hour
9. Rolling Stones - Sympathy For the Devil
10. Diana Ross & the Supremes - Love Child
BONUS TRACK: Jimi Hendrix Experience - You Got Me Floatin'
ETA: Hey! The web site says Aretha got BOS, but in the backsell Dave said it was the Animals. Mistake, or revisionism? In any case, I'm going with the backsell and have changed the above list accordingly.

Not familiar with this. Some of it dreadfully silly/pretentious, but the basic rockin' riff is killer stuff with the bass and drums.
-
Why isn't the Hair medley listed?

Guess he was counting that as a sound clip--kinda like his TV show medleys. Although the JC Superstar Medley has counted as a song on occasion--but it was pretty long, too.

5. Beatles (yeah!) - Dear Prudence
Have they ever had an intern who could spell "Yay" Y-A-Y and not Y-E-A-H?
-
Great set, again. Went down to the Stanford ball game, saw great fireworks after and then right as I pulled out of the parking lot, 10@10 started. Yay! Here's to a great weekend. Cheers!
-
5. Beatles (yeah!) - Dear Prudence
Have they ever had an intern who could spell "Yay" Y-A-Y and not Y-E-A-H?
I gotta think it must be Dave who spells it that way--'cause I've NEVER seen it spelled Y-A-Y on a 10@10 page.

I've always thought it was an extension of "She Loves You, Yeah Yeah Yeah!"

Then he would pronounce it "yeah" instead of "yay", no?
Bad news for sleepyheads: this great '68 set was first in the marathon -- they're mixing 'em up again instead of playing them in order.

Which makes me all the more glad I caught the evening replay last night. I slept til half past '85 (about quarter to 10) this morning--woke up mid-JCM. And boy, did I need the Zs. Rough week.

I didn't say it was a perfect rhyme!
