first in a series, sez Dave -- not clear if that means all week, or consecutive Mondays, or an irregular series, or what. But he's taking suggestions.
Maybe he could do SF HFH on Friday: "We Built This City" and, uh, 9 others.

Geoff those are all wonderful choices and I'll bet we don't hear a single one today
This is supposed to be a decades-spanning thing, BTW, not just '60s. So Journey-when-they-were-good, Translator... anything's possible.

ooo! instant BOS the orig "Somebody to Love"!!! Grace and the Great Society. Wow. I didn't hear this on the KTRB thing.

Well, I'd never have guessed we'd hear the Great Society. I'm a little surprised they had a copy of it.
Dave sez two of the songs he insisted on. And this isn't one of them. I'll be anxious to see what they are. (But I bet we can tell them from the rest of the set pretty easily.)
-
Did you Estimate that we'd hear the Dead?
-
BOS2 Toooobs!!!
-
I'm predicting some Huey Lewis...

BOS3 Beau Brummels.
-
Dave plays fast and Luce.
-
Betting that the Romeo Void is one of Dave's pix.
Tubes get my BOS so far. Hoping we don't hear Third Eye Blind, betting we do hear Train.
-
nice surprise: Syndicate of Sound -- I didn't realize they were a Bay Area band until I heard this on the KTRB salute.

Yep, San Jose. Was this the band that played Geoff's prom, or was that the Beau Brummels?

but... where's "San Jose's own" People???
-
BOS for Santana's fabulous "Everybody's Everything" -- my favorite all-time LSJUMB song. And extra credit for it since it includes the TOP horns.
ETA: OMG -- TOP on their own! Yeah yeah yeah!!!!
-
Greg Rolie and Neal Schon with Santana before Journey was Journey. Nice to hear. DM seems to be keeping mainly to 60s and 70s tunes. So my fear of being left tied to the Train tracks is (hopefully) unfounded.

Saving them for "San Francisco sound volume 2--the sequel?"

indeed! BOS4 "Thhhhouuuul Vaccination", as Dave will no doubt pronounce it.

Hey, one out of eleven is pretty damn good!

Indeed, another BOS and I very nearly singled this out earlier as the most likely to actually get played.
-
That was pretty damn faboo -- volume 2 tomorrow, sez Dave.

And only two songs newer than 1975--methinks we won't keep this up for the entire series.
ETA: Correction: Realized tonight there were three newer than '75--I forgot that Estimated Prophet was released in '77.

Listen my friends! the Bonus was Moby Grape, "Omaha".

Yes it was SOS, and it was the Yearbook Dance, not the prom, which I never attended.

Indeed you did! (I typed the above comment before the bonus was played.)

BOS3 Beau Brummels.
Yeah, I dig that one too, though it uses that "on the shelf" hokey rhyme that's never had any business in a pop song. I could amass a ridiculous list of songs that claim someone or something's being put on the shelf, as if the metaphor's ever been colloquially operative.

BOS from me. I forget if it was last August or the August before that I saw David Freiberg sing the hell out of this at a Jefferson Starship concert at BB King's Blues Club.

Well, Volume 2 is today, supposedly.
