Heard the promo yesterday...
Well, I was expecting '80s after yesterday. I have a 10:00 meeting, so enjoy and take copious notes!
ETA: has it really been 2 months since the last 1980 set?
-
Listening but too busy to post. Have a great day!
-
Journey into APP? This set should be subtitled 1980: The Cheeze.
(That was "Anyway You Want It" and "Games People Play", for those in 10am meetings.)
-
WOS Journey at the precise moment they ceased (once and for all) being good.
ETA: nearly the same for APP, although this album did have its moments (as did Journey's earlier Evolution release)
-
Whoa!!! A certain bustout from Utopia's Adventures in Utopia: Set Me Free--a Kasim Sulton song, although will likely be another strong BOS contender due to the Todd connection.
-
I give Dave a world of credit for his Reagan era clips. He may not always be in Ginger's league in terms of musical selection during this era, but politically he gives me exactly what I want with real consistency.
-
Whoa, part II. Boz, Breakdown Dead Ahead. I thought this was on Down Two, Then Left which I remember as being 1978, but I could (and probably am) mistook.
ETA: Yes, am mistooken. It's on Middle Man.
-
Next: MJ, Rock With You. First serious Katrina of the set, which seems to be staying far away from the New Wave side of 1980.

BOS #2 Michael when he was awesome.
BOS #3 'mistooken'

OOh, BOS for Mystery Achievement! VHM for rockin' Boz too.
-
BOS3, Mystery Achievement--at last, something approximating New Wave. (1 & 2 were the Utopia and Boz tunes, btw.)
-
BOS Pretenders
-
Bossest BOS for TH "Houses in Motion"

TH & Chrissie restore the balance, and that MJ track is less a Katrina than, say, Stones "Dance, Pt. 1" and only on par with "Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School".

BOS Pretenders
Hey Rastermon, long time. How's things in Corvallis?

Is that a new band, like "Panic! At the Disco"?

Wow, that's impressive -- a loooong time since played, if not a bustout. I look forward to the replay (well, maybe I'll tune in after Journey & APP).

Listening on the replay, this strikes me as a heck of a Billy Joel imitation.
But co-BOSs Boz and the Pretenders. "Mystery G-Man, don't breathe down my neck" remains one of my all-time top 3 mondegreens.

1. Journey - Anyway You Want it
2. Alan Parsons Project - Games People Play
3. Utopia - Set Me Free (BEST OF SET!!)
4. Boz Scaggs - Breakdown Deadahead
5. Michael Jackson - Rock With You
6. Pretenders - Mystery Achievement
7. Talking Heads - Houses in Motion
8. Babys - Back on My Feet Again
9. John Cougar Mellencamp - Ain't Even Done With the Night
10. Warren Zevon - Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School
Coulda done w/out the Babys (Most Egregious Katrina of Set). And the Zevon is waaay rarer than "Rock With You", it seems to me. Last time Dave played "Bad Luck Streak..." it was spot-the-vinyl, iirc -- a while before that became a semi-regular feature.

I thought the John Cougar song was from 1981.
