Post by: RGMike on March 16, 2007, 07:14:34 AM
Dave's looking for last-minute suggestions...  I thought I heard Alicat call in to ask for "Green Tambourine"?

Agreed, Elvis is sounding good as TOTHC.

And Green Earrings from the Dan--also a nice and seldom heard.

My wishes are Green Manalishi and Green Green Grass of Home.

Irish Greg suggested "Green Green Grass" and Dave said "I left it at home" but Greg seemed determined to get his hands on a copy before 10:00.

Just heard Green Tamb.

I passed on Rod and also on My Chemical Romance in Oak. Heard both were good shows. Just considred Aerosmith in Vegas end of April but tix too much $$$. Allocating $$ now to Giants games and hopefully Sharks playoffs. I have two remaining Sharks games this season.

If you thought yesterday's set was short, you ain't seen nothin' yet--it's 10:13 and we're on song #5.

At this rate we'll be done before 10:30.

OK, Green Grass and High Tides could stretch it out if he's playing the full 18-minute version.

Speaking of shows, I won the pop quiz a couple weeks ago because I wanted to see Gomez.  But now I find out that they're one of two opening bands, and the headliner is The Fray, purveyors of pop-drek "How to Save a Life".  I don't know if it's worth going, and I blew 60 days of eligibility.

Definite BOS so far, though it's a very good set.  Don't know if this is 18 minutes long, but it certainly is the loooooong version.

at least 2 diff Fogheads called in to suggest the Outlaws tune, bless 'em. Meanwhile, Renee expressed astonishement at there being 10 songs with "green" in the title.

Didn't we just hear "Green Grow the Rushes" last week? Plenty of other "green" choices, Dave. Yeesh.

Good ol' Renee. A good morning show needs its token ditz. (She can't really be that dumb, can she? Yeah, I suppose she can. Sigh.)

This would be better without the unfortunate soprano solo, presumably by Van himself.  I don't know who told him he should play the saxophone.  When I saw him in concert (he's terrible in concert), he just made bad sounds on it.

A standard part of the "green" set, which used to be Dave's usual St Pat's M.O., but Dave's done the "Irish bands" set the last 4 or 5 years in a row, iirc.  Years ago he used to do the "luck" set.

Sugarloaf.  the loooong version?

ETA: YES!

Don't really know enough about 'em beyond the song(s) that KFOG plays. But it's at Shoreline, right? If you really want to see Gomez, I'd wait 'til they come back thru headlining someplace smaller--you'll get a longer set and most likely a better view of the band.

Yah, Snoreline.  The trouble with the smaller places like the Fillmore or the Warfield is that you have to stand all the time to see anything.  I'm just not into that anymore (if I ever was).

What a diff between this and their other hit, "Paloma Blanca".

Well, if you have decent seats for Shoreline, then go. Personally I don't have an issue standing most of the time but I can understand how that might put you off. (Btw, the Warfield has loads of seats up in the balcony, but you're not exactly close to the stage unless you're right on the rail.)

Being that they are freebies, does that mean Lawn seating? I stand plenty at shows but don't do lawn anymore.

Probably are lawn seats, since they make a big deal out of when they give good seats.  I like it up there, though it's a little bit like watching a music video.
