Here comes Don. Man he looks good for 89.
Wooo Hooo!! Thanks, Cynthia!
And I have absolutely no idea what the TOTHC is. Sounds vaguely like an outtake of one of those Edison Lighthouse/Foundations pop factory sessions.
-
Holy F--K!!! Twice in one day! It will be hard to top the Peak's set, but this never-heard-before TOTHC (???) is a great start.

Yeah, that was def the Foundations, methinks. BOS1 and -- yahoo! -- BOS2 American Breed.
-
BOS3 "San Jose's own" People -- twice in one day, whod'a thunk it?
-
And making an encore appearance: it's San Jose's own...
Really looking forward to seeing the Zombies in a couple of weeks, btw--hope they're still doing this.

San Jose's own JINX!
-
proxy of geoff: "Albatross". I keep expecting the Marks & Spencer lady to come on and tells us what's on sale this week.
-
Steven Hawking SINGS!
Am I the only one who remembers Don McNeil's Breakfast Club?
BOS4 Marvin & Tammi.

Was there a Zombies song? I missed it. Or do People have some connection to the Zombies? And are the Zombies really doing a show??? So many questions...but then, I've been out of town.

No, yes, and yes.
("I Love You" is a Zombies cover)

People's 'I Love You' was originally a Zombies song--if you think about it you can totally hear them doing it. And yes, the Zombies are playing the Fillmore in a couple of weeks, with Ian Hunter.
Another song I've never heard: whatever this is post-Cream with all the handclaps and the Farfisa.

Aye caramba! I'm guessing this is the same group that did "Black is Black"?
-
OMG--is this Dave's fabulous Time Has Come Today montage? If so he hasn't played it for several years.
-
BOS5 Chambers Bros. This has been the best Monday quartet of sets on eons.

sounds like it... DAY-UM!!

Beautiful -- there's a scream after the words "Richard M. Nixon" and another after "Senator Agnew of..(forgot)".

Just a fucking masterpiece. My soul really has been psychedelicized!
-
Love the way he sings "and my soul...has been psy-kuh-dell-ah-sized."
Great, great piece of work--Dave really put some time in editing that together.
-
and now Sly adds a little GUH-tah. BOS6.

The segue to 'Blackbird' was really nice too, after the over-the-top blowout of THCT.
Dave's really setting the bar high this week. If this isn't set of the week, we're in for some good stuff.
(oh, and JINX-adelicize!)
-

nope -- it was the Shadows of Knight.
a freakin' fantabulous set, Dave!
-
Another song I've never heard: whatever this is post-Cream with all the handclaps and the Farfisa.
If this was Shadows of Knight's "Shake," it's on the Buddah box set. One of my all-time favorite dance tracks! Fond memories of a Halloween costume party in the East Village and a hot DJ dressed as Spider-Man who played it and insisted it was someone else -- Kasenetz-Katz, or 1910, or some other bubblegum outfit.

Wow, and I just listened to the Budadh Box a few weeks ago!
-
Bonus! "Ride My Seesaw". Now Mark's REALLY gonna be pissed he missed this set.
-
Wow, some set--not one but two bustouts, a bunch of rarities, a Beatles tune, and the Time Has Come Today megamix. And the closest thing to a katrina was the Fleetwood Mac tune--which I have no problem hearing as often as DM wants to play it.
02/26/2007 - Monday. Time in...1968!!
1. Foundations - I Can Take or Leave Your Lovin'
2. American Breed - Bend Me, Shape Me
3. People - I Love You
4. Fleetwood Mac - Albatross
5. Marvin & Tammi - Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing (BEST OF SET!!)
6. Cream - White Room
7. Shadows of Knight - Shake
8. Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today (Friday Night Champagne Remix...)
9. Beatles - Blackbird
10. Sly - Dance to the Music

proxy of geoff: "Albatross". I keep expecting the Marks & Spencer lady to come on and tells us what's on sale this week.
I got to listen to everythign up to about the middle of "Albatross" in the car on my way to a 10:15 appointment. Put me in a good mood to say the least, can't wait until 10pm to listen to the whole thing over again.
-
I'll be tuned in at 10pm. I was actually home today but doing so much stuff, I spaced till it was too late to listen.

I woulda also BOS'd the Chambers Bros, who I saw 4 times at Winterland/Fillmore/Winterland/Fillmore West in the space of 6 months from 12/67.

I love those last two posters--Lee Conklin is one of my faves of the psychedelic poster artists. I have several of his at home, but neither of those.

trivia note on this poster: Buffalo Springfield broke up before this show, so we saw Albert King instead! The Chambers Bros was the only group at the time that got people up and dancing. The popular thing at the time was to sit on the floor and groove out more trance-like.
-
Great. Not familiar with Foundations.
People. Nice. I love you too.
-
Looking forward to the Chambers Bros FNCR! Dave likes his bubbly.

Mostly good, lots more travel in the early going & more pressure, but mostly good. Should continue to get better I think. Tremendous upside 3-4 years down the road if I achieve successful track record.

Spectacular Time mix. Going too fast for me to keep up.

Turns out you were dead on, urth: the song was indeed written by those folks, and was a Top 40 hit by Herman's Hermits -- the Foundations version never charted, neither here nor in the UK. Gaz will especially find this link interesting:

Hope y'alls went to bed early last night, cuz we're kicking off with 1968 bright and early.

indeed, it turned out to be one of those weeks where the marathon was in correct Mon-Fri order.

Just got around to reading the article Mike linked to about britgum and I about shit my pants when I read the author's name, before I even got to the article. It was written by Derrick Bostrom, who was the drummer for Phoenix psychedelic punk band the Meat Puppets. Can I just say: What. Da. Funk?!?!?
(I'm going to have to spend some more time looking around that Bubblegum University site, too. Looks like lots of cool info to be had there.)
