Only Oscar-winners, or anything from the movies?
I'm going to out-gay the whole fucking city and request "The Eyes of Laura Mars (Prisoner)."

ROTFL -- Dave's played clips from the film but has never played the song... it's time!

I think anything from a film is fair game.

Curtain up! And pass the popcorn.
Leading off with Looney Tunes--and Bugs!!!
-
Hooray for Hollywood! Bugs Bunny RULES!
-
now you KNEW Harold & Maude would make an appearance didn't you? VHM the Cat Man, but this better get less predictable, pronto.
-
I have never seen all of Donnie Darko.
-
I have never seen all of Donnie Darko.
Me either--it's on my list to rent one of these days.
However I have seen all of Trainspotting. Good film, but ecccchh--lots of really disturbing images in there. Like the sequence in the loo--literally.

Trivia: the 20th Century Fox "fanfare" was written by Alfred Newman, uncle of Randy.
BOS Stuck in the Middle with Tarantino.
-
My god, Dave's wheeling out all sorts of disturbing scenes here. The audio from Reservoir Dogs is another highly graphic scene.
Was that Steven Wright as the DJ there? If I knew that, I'd forgotten it.
-
it's a Tarantino twin-spin!
-
And it's a Tarantino twin-spin, Stuck in he Middle... into Misirlou, interposed by some nifty banter between Messrs. Travolta and Jackson.
"Sewer rat might taste like punkin pie but I'd never know, 'cause I ain't eatin' the motherf***er."
Or something like that. Great line.
-
"Tarantino twin-spin" JINX!!
now let's head to the refreshment stand!

Great, I'll buy ya a Vernor's and a box of Jujubes.
So have any of the films featured so far been older than Harold and Maude, which was what, around 1974 or so? Guess that's the demographic, but c'mon--let's dig back a bit further.
-
this Star Wars theme would mean more if Dave hadn't played it about a month ago in a '77 set. Carrie, get those danishes off your head!
-
OMG -- "Arthur's Theme"!!! BOS2 and about f--ing time!
He's GOTTA follow this with that Bette Midler Oscars clip, no?

We can only hope--it's a classic. "How do ya like me now, boys?"

Jeezus, WOS Will Smith, "Men in Black"... Good lord, did someone actually suggest this? Awfulness personified.

From our whatthehellhappened to his career file: Wes Bentley, so wonderful in American Beauty. And now he's the bad guy in Ghost Rider. Sheesh.
-
I think I'm gonna BOS the Annie Lennox tune.
Ah, make that a tie with the Kinks--another classic (and a repeat from last year).

Not to my knowledge. But a set of songs *about* movies would've been cool too:
"35mm Dreams" Garland Jeffreys
"Everyone's Gone to the Movies" the Dan
"Citizen Kane" the Byrds
the "movie set" was a staple of free-form FM rock radio back in the day.

Jeezus, WOS Will Smith, "Men in Black"... Good lord, did someone actually suggest this? Awfulness personified.
I didn't listen to the show today because I forgot but I read the set list and I have to say I agree 1000%. This one should be a candidate for Hits from Hell if there is one on April 13th.

You Guys! Go get it NOW! And make sure you watch the deleted scenes & the commentary after your first viewing (I guarantee that you will want to do so). And it has a pretty great soundtrack all the way around, too.
