Back to the future? No, that was '85, methinks.
Leading with Simple Minds, sanctifying themselves.

but Back to the Blow Monkeys is a distinct possibility...
-
'86: Another year with great pop singles by Madonna ("Open Your Heart", "Papa Don't Preach") that we probaly won't hear. Ditto Janet Jackson.
-
BOS World Party, tho' it's rather a usual suspect at this point.

They all have been so far--INXS, Simple Minds, World Party, now David & David. Sounds like '86 to me. I'm guessing we'll hear Bruce Hornsby, too, and perhaps the Georgia Satellites.

or the BoDeans

AAACK! WOS Rush, on principle (tho' it's one of their less-obscure lyrics). I mean, big money does indeed go around the world -- I'll give them that.
-
Superhit 6: was thinking it sounded like Genesis, but couldn't place the song. I was close: Rush, borrowing Genesis' synth sounds. I can't recall hearing this on the radio much if at all, so I'm tempted to call this a Narada.

YES! totally cribbing that fanfare from Genesis -- I had the same thought.
VHM OMD, another band whose great early-'80s stuff ("Locomotion", etc) goes unplayed by Dave.
-
BOS Stranglers, "Dreamtime", but --again -- this is one of the few songs of theirs Dave plays.
A pleasant, harmless '86 set (we coulda done worse, but we also coulda done a lot better).

Yeah, exactly. Pretty lightweight across the board. I'm not one to complain about the Pretenders, but Don't Get Me Wrong, while catchy, is one of Chrissy's fluffier tunes.
-
wow, I thought we were done, but Dave saves the best for last: BOS3 Smiths, "Panic". Hang the deejay, indeed!
-
Holy crap!! BOS Smiths!!! I'm not sure if it's a bustout or not (the more I hear the more I think not) but compared to the rest of the set, this is a no-brainer.

He's played this a few times, but it's yet another example of a band with a HUGE library from which Dave plays maybe 2 or 3 songs.

It was popular in Pittsburgh, and charted #45 nationally. Don't mind that I missed it, though.
