Title: 22 January 2007--it's....1983
Post by: urth on January 22, 2007, 10:01:51 AM
Let's try this again--I did it once and it didn't seem to take.

ETA: Second time's the charm I guess.

Originally I said that 83 was a typical Monday, no-great-shakes kind of year.

But Dave has a new sponsor--Amici's Pizza. A step up from McD's and their...BEEF.

BOS1 Red Rockers.

nice start with a lesser-heard Madness tune.  No "Our House" today at least.

Just hit me--perhaps China is a shoutout to Mshray, since I think that's where he is about now?

They've been KNBR staples for years, as Ralph Barbieri is a fan of their food. So I guess the new owners have perhaps merged the sales staffs of KNBR/KFOG/The Bone?  As "East coast Style" pizza, Amici's is OK, but Arinell (a hole-in-the-wall at Valencia & 16th) is still my fave Noo Yawk pizza in SF. Just like bein' in da Bronx, yo.

Aaaack, stand back, it's the Goat!

... but the Reagan abortion clip was no coincidence, on this 34th anniv of Roe v. Wade.  Kudos, Dave.

She Katrinas in stereo!  But it's a good tune that you'd never hear anywhere else, so I'll keep my snark to a minimum... for now.

But wtf is it doing in 1983? It came out in 1980--I checked.

BOY! BOY!

This always makes me think of the Jewish parody, "Fairfax Avenue" by Oy George & Kosher Club.

OY!

isn't it on the Valley Girl sntk?

Methinks we're gonna hear a LOT of the Purple One for the next 2 weeks.
Will "LRC" make the Super Sunday cut? Betcha he eliminates that "Trojans of abuse" line.

BOS3 to the Purple One, even if we hear this fairly often (what is the most frequently played tune from 1999 anyway?).

With the exception of the Myrick tune (which was my BOS2, if I forgot to mention that), this is def. sounding like 1983 to me.

VHM U2, one you don't hear often. BOS2 Eurythmics (BOS1 was Madness) -- this is turning out to be a pretty good '83 set for a Monday.

Per Shraytabase v.1.0, it is indeed LRC, three appearances to two apiece for 1999 and Something in the Water.

Jeez, has she been on the air at all this year? I remember she filled in for DM the week after Xmas, but I can't recall if she's done her own shift at all? If she's got the cold that's going around (that I had for two weeks-plus) she could very easily still be ailing. I've only been feeling completely well for the last couple of days, and I got it before new years.
