off-topic to Dave, have you been to/plan to go to any Stanford BBall games? They seem to be exceeding expectations so far.

BOS1 JB; BOS2 The Mighty Zep
"She smoked my stuff and drank all my wine" -- I'd dump her, dude.
-

No plans to do so. We've been heap busy. We briefly considered getting some Women's BB tix, but decided we were already overwhelmed. I don't know if you can get any single tickets for men's. They ARE doing nicely.

BOS3 Joni! "California". Blue is such a brilliant LP.
"I'm gonna see the folks I dig
I'll even kiss a Sunset pig"
-
Nothin' like Englishmen and Canadians to sing about California
-
Been a very nice set so far, but of the songs we've heard to this point, Joni's got my BOS vote. (JB was cool too, but haven't we had the obligatory post-mortem appearance by him already?)

no such thing as too much JB -- I fully expected an all-James tribute set last week and was disappointed that Dave didn't so one (esp since last Friday we got 1990 instead).

BOS4 "Milit'ry Madness". The more things change...
-
"he was a workshop owner!"
Yeah, and...?
VHM one of the Guess Who's most incomprehensible lyrics. There's an art to that.
-
Here's that weirdo Albert Flasher again. He was a workshop owner--sfw?
-

how's that go in French? 'Plus ca change', or something like that?
I like to pretend I can speak French, but I know I can't get away with it when POC is online.

Workshop Owner puzzlement JINX!
-
"he was a workshop owner!"
Yeah, and...?
VHM one of the Guess Who's most incomprehensible lyrics. There's an art to that.
Okay, but you'd never say that if it were a Rush lyric! :-)
-
BOS for "All in the Family". I feel privileged to have hear the first instance of Archie calling Mike a "meathead".
-
BOS - Archie Bunker
-
"he was a workshop owner!"
Yeah, and...?

There's incomprehensible and then there's willfully obscure. BIG difference.
-
Real BOS for "Surf's Up". Damn, Brian Wilson was a genius.

That's because ALL Rush lyrics are incomprehensible--it's a given. ;)
(Same could be said for Yes, among others.)

Me too (I had the same thought). Archie Bunker Jinx!!

...so screwing up you're lyrics without seeming to try to is better than trying to?
I'll see your  and raise you one
-
Real BOS for "Surf's Up".
Agreed, tho' this is pretty incomprehensible too -- Brian was doin' serious drugs in the sandbox at this point.
-
Real BOS for "Surf's Up".
Ditto -- I remember listening to this album in college, and thinking it was really good, but really un-Beach Boy-ish. Some day I've got to listen to it again... maybe it's on CD by now.

Agreed. I think this edges out JB & LZ in my book today.

I pretty much got the whole Beach Boy catalog during Tower's death throes, and quite sure I got this one in particular. Most of the LP's are now on double CD's so it's easy. But I still haven't even unwrapped these yet.

It's really a wonderful LP. "Student Demonstration Time", "Disney Girls"...
-
Yay! BOS # whatever The Cat Man, "Tuesday's Dead".

Thanks, I'll definitely try to find it...

I've got to say that listening to Cat Stevens still makes me just feel optomistic about life -- in a Harold and Maude kind of way. :)
-
another BOS J-5! Clifton Davis' career high. (No, That's My Mama doesn't count.)
-
No doubt, a really, really strong set. Nice, Dave.

Indeed, credit-where-credit-is-due. A keeper. Too bad the rest of the week was so uneven
-
Annalisa's quiz: "name the Brit who sang about California in today's set"
Guaranteed the first caller says "Joni Mitchell".

Annalisa's quiz: "name the Brit who sang about California in today's set"
Guaranteed the first caller says "Joni Mitchell".
F**K! the web commercials covered up the quiz winner and the bonus choices -- we came back in the middle of Bill Withers, "Aint No Sunshine".

speaking of the wrath of the gods, did any of you catch the treatment Condi got from even Republican back-bench Senators yesterday?
Saw the replay on C-SPAN late last night. 'Twas a pleasure to behold. Even the part where the demonstrator was dragged out while yelling, "Stop lying! Stop the lies!" There was a time in my early-adult life when I would have considered that moment a triumph rather than a distraction. (Does this mean I'm getting old?)

Oh my yes. And about freakin' time.
So you still haven't explained your Rob Corddry obsession -- inquiring minds wanna know!

Not so much "obsession" as "hey, I like that pic." Corddry's one of my aesthetic guilty pleasures, along with Tucker Carlson, Jimmy Kimmel, and Eliot Spitzer.
-
Tucker Carlson and Eliot Spitzer.
*shudder*
But Jimmy Kimmel -- that's my kinda guy. I'm hoping against hope that Sarah Silverman is just a beard.
