Title: 11 Jan 2007--it's...1993
Post by: urth on January 11, 2007, 09:58:19 AM
I'm thinking latter 80s/90s, but I've been known to be wrong before--like, most of the time....

Well, not this time. Hope to hear something besides Weezer. TFF starts us off.

if Dave's '93 is even half as good as Ginger's '92... it'll be a miracle.

ROTFL!  A serious Morey fave; all the more puzzling, since he ignores EJ's fine mid-'80s pop hits.

Of course, I'll be in NYC in June so I guess this is my fix for the year.

Ah, might have to give Nirvana my BOS due to lack of competition. and it's not Lithium or SLTS, so all the better.

I love this Widespread Panic song.  I remember thinking, "damn!  These guys are good."  Got the album.  Need to get more.  Have always wanted to see them, but haven't yet.

Another BOS for Porno for Pyros.  I didn't hear Ginger's set, but this one is kicking some pretty serious booty.  How's it stacking up?

I'll venture an HM to Perry Farrell & P4P, but it's not quite up to the level of the Nirvana.

Real nice guys.  I got to know them and the bassist pretty well back then.  My favorite live band of the 'spawn of the Dead' jam bands to actually see live.  The crowd may put you off a bit, with their intensity of devotion, but hey, there's a lot of that going around.  They lost their lead guitarist to cancer some years ago; haven't seen them in years.

Ginger still gets the nod -- Dave's still way too mired in usual suspects here, tho' I'll BOS2 PFP as well.

Natalie Merchant doesn't help, KFOG plays this song 5 times a day.

I surely told the story of my chauffer experience driving Jane's across the TJ border before?  I told Dave once & he played it back on air.

Yeah, meant to post it but spaced. I heard back from their PD (who, according to her bio, used to work for CNET radio back when--small world). It seems Candi is "no longer with the company" and SP has been "put to rest for now." Which I take to mean "in perpetuity."

Bummer--she used to play some pretty fine songs. Hope Candi left on her own terms and moved on to something better.

Didn't he play that on KFOG?  Boo for unplugged versions of songs like that.  Nirvana unplugged is even worse.

no, it's a bonus track on their first album, & I prefer it.

That's one thing that Ginger often does that Dave never does.

which is interesting, considering how much time KFOG spends plugging LFTA vols 1 thru infinity.
