You'd never put America in that position
-
Our very good week continues: '69, '80 and now '75. I'm betting the "missing" Monday set (which will only show up in the Marathon) was something late '80s/early '90s.
uh-oh, Sister 'Trina Hair: the very definition of a 1975 Katrina, methinks.
-
Woohoo for Kashmir! Has this been on 10at10 before?

You wouldn't think so, but on April 4 of last year it happened.
Now Led Zeppelin's another matter...
Hoping to hear 10cc's I'm Not In Love today. Just a feeling.

"be quiet!" i *so* hope we don't have to hear that song...it would ruin the set!

Yep. It's only in the Shraytabase once (Sept 9 2004) but I'm sure we've heard it more than that.

BOS the Mighty Zep (and yes, we've def heard "Kashmir" before). If we gotta hear 10cc I'm hoping (as always) for "Life is a Minestrone".
-
To each their own.

This Chorus Line medley is, ummm, interesting, but can you rock out to it?

ha! not really.

ummm... NO. But it's one singular sensation.

What's with the boy's version of "One"? SF Gay Men's Chorus? Or was that actually in the show?
-
Yikes, DM kind of ground the gears a bit on that segue from the Chorus Line to Low Rider.
-
Try to imagine if the "Low Rider" was strictly an insrumental. Much as I love everything else by War, I think it might hold up better that way.

So will this count as an actual song? I'm betting it will, like the Amazing JCS Medley of a few years ago. And how many BOS votes will it get?
OOOoooEEE! Fight the Power! BOS2? (Hope this ain't the censored version!)

I'm guessing there are both versions in the show. BOS2 just for the audacity of putting a showtune medley in the middle of the set.
BOS3 "Fight the Power" and all the BULLSHIT goin' down!
-
BOS for The Isleys!

i feel that way about most war songs. now the isleys, on the other hand...

Yep, the Honorable Mr. Ford.
-
Somebody ping Gaz--it's his all-time fave Grand Funk song! (And their last gasp of creativity.)
-
proxy of gaz for GFR, "Bad Time", tho' this is surely a Katrina too.

"Christian Democratic Union leader Angela Merkel is Germany's first female chancellor"
Yep, I had to Google her.

Me too. Pretty embarrassing. Very, actually.

Initiation's getting my BOS2 vote, since it seems we're past a point in the set where we'd hear my 10cc request.
Btw, Mike, Bad Time got a lot of play in 2002-03, but only twice since August 05 prior to today.
-
I prefer "pop" Todd to bordering-on-pretentious Todd.
-

Who the merkel is Angela Merkel?
i messaged dave to see if i could change my vote. probably not...angela merkel is the leader of the eu for the next six months.

i prefer to think of it as cop rock. i can see james garner jumping over the hood of a patrol car...

Speaking of massages, isn't she the world leader that Bush gave a neck rub to? Ewwww. But what about the tail?
-
stellar set! walking in rhythm!
-
BOS# whatever the Blackbyrds, "Walking in Rhythm", as sunny as pop/soul got in 1975. Play that flute!

Todd wore both hats equally in the 70s. He got a lot more pretentious than Initiation. Check out the first Utopia album, possibly the most music ever crammed on to a single 12" disc--both sides run in excess of 28 minutes apiece, and side 2 is a 30-minute-plus epic called "The Ikon". Or later he did a rock opera called "Singring and the Glass Guitar" that was pretty silly, too.

Well, at least my vote counts, even though I don't want it to. Couldn't help Todd, anyway.

It's a rare occurrence when Todd doesn't run away with the BOS voting, so just as well someone else got some love. Although I'd just as soon it went to ZZ Top, which is where my official vote was cast.
