Whew! Not 1976!
And leading off with a certified Dave fave, Squeeze, Another Nail In My Heart.

"when their eloquence escapes you
their logic ties you up and rapes you"
BOS da Po-leese.
-
pretty normal. so far.
-
Now this is more like it.
BOS Br-u-u-u-u-u-ce, The River. The fall of 1980 sounded like this and John Lennon at my place.

Hey Urth, are you free for lunch today? I am about to head into the city.

Ditto. I had seen him do this song (heard it for the first time) the previous year at the No Nukes concert. Still one of his most powerful. BOS2

Sorry, I'm working from home today, trying to get over this cold I've had since Saturday.

oh, babys.
"and the way that you came every night"
This is surely a Katrina, or close to one.

haven't updated the Db for a while (early october actually), but it's at least the 3rd time in 366 days we've heard it, as it showed up jan 2 & mar 27 last year

"Jodie fights to save his baby" on Soap. Which prompted one of my favorite lines ever:
Social Worker: "Are you a practicing homosexual?"
Jodie: "I don't have to practice -- I'm very good at it."
BOS3 AC/DC! Duuuuuuuuude!
-
OMFG! BOS4 Donna Summer and her Geffen debut -- she's a wan-duh-wuh!

and NOT a Katrina, only in the Db once before this.

This really reminds me of a Donald Fagen song on the Nightfly -- can't think of which one it is with Donna singing...gimme a minute...
I take it back. I think I'm thinking of "My Life" by Billy Joel, which did precede this one.

Crack that whip. Whip that crack.

BOS for Devo.
BOS2 for The Beat.

That "practicing" joke also appears on a Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks album which I'm sure they were familiar with, though it was a doctor.

I say Whip It... Whip It GOOD! BOS5 -- this is one of Dave's better 1980 efforts.

Yeah, as Bobby "Boris" Pickett might say, 'Mmmmm! Whip It GOOD!".
-
'trina in the bathroom.
-
i'll bos george and his "shoo-bee-doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-bee-doo" singers.
-
VHM George Benson, "Give Me the Princess, er, the Night". A Rod Temperton composition that could just as easily have been done by MJ on Off The Wall.

Happy New Year Everyone!!
And I have to chime in with my BOS for Whip It also. One of my all time favorites -- still sounds so great!!

i'll bos george and his "shoo-bee-doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-bee-doo" singers.
but are they doing Jarreau Hands while they shoo-bee-doo? That's key.

Ooh, I wasted my vote on the Beat before XTC showed up. Oh well. BOBOS.

only if they paid the licensing fees! maybe they're doing jazz hands. fosse wasn't smart enough to copyright them.

Hmmm, sounds like someone griped to DM about hearing "Nigel" one time too often. Could it be anyone we know?

I connected just to see if you guys were the culprits here -- not so.

Not I... Dave admitting he overplays a song is, like, a Sign of the Apocalypse, isn't it?
But I was the "one vote" for Ms Summer, and Dave used my "wan-duh-wuh" comment in the backannounce.

Indeed. The attempted seduction of Sue Ellen! HAWT
