For those up at 7am, the marathon led off with the set that was pre-empted on Xmas: a 1985 excursion with Scritti Politti as TOTHC and featuring the Mother of All Katrinas. In all, not a bad week of "classics".

Oddly, the missing New Year's set, which showed up midway thru the Sat (1/6) marathon, is also from 1985, a feel-good collection of usual suspects (Simple Minds, A-Ha, Cock Robin) that ends as last week's '85 set began, with Scritti Politti.

1/1 on the Saturday replay was another 1985 that ended with "Perfect Way."
Went like this -- about exactly as I remembered the year:
1. John Cougar Mellencamp, "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A."
2. Simple Minds, "Don't You Forget About Me"
3. A-ha, "Take On Me"
4. Pete Townshend, "Face the Face"
5. Cock Robin, "When Your Heart Is Weak"
6. Bryan Ferry, "Don't Stop the Dance"
7. Eric Clapton, "She's Waiting"
8. Tom Petty, "It Ain't Nothing to Me"
9. Foreigner, "I Want to Know What Love Is"
10. Scritti Politti, "Perfect Way"

Great minds. I started a new thread for this set, but it makes more sense to add it here. This is what I said:
The 1985 set that's filling in the spot in the marathon for the missing set this week sure sounds like our worst-nightmare 85 set. A-ha, Cock Robin, Simple Minds, Bryan Ferry, Tom Petty, Clapton--all the usual suspects.
ETA: I 86'd the other thread, which I see Mike had responded to--if only to say JINX.
