10 drinking songs! Yay!
very clever idea, Ginger -- some Elderberry Wine to start. I hope we hear Lou Reed's "Power of Positive Drinking"...

I bet we hear Don Henley's "You're Not Drinking Enough" and of course some Tom Waits.

Tanqueray! Never heard this before, but I like it.

indeed, "The Piano has been Drinking" would make my day. Dunno who this is drinkin' Tanqueray, tho'.
"I'd rather have a bottle in front o'me
than a frontal lobotomy."
Hrm... guess "Tequila Sunrise" may have trumped solo Henley.
-
You & me & the bottle makes three... I know this but can't remember who it is. Brian Setzer? Big Bad Voodoo Daddy?
Surely Mr Thorogood is lurking in the wings.
-
"I'd rather have a bottle in front o'me
than a frontal lobotomy."
Thank you Martin Mull!

Lawd she was lovey dovey...
I know there are some here who dis Handsome George, but I'll always love this song.
-
"Ah KNOW -- everybody funny. Now you funny too."
ETA: I was THISCLOSE to a "lawd she was lovey-dovey" jinx.
-
Clever theme for a set, but I'm sure there will be more songs we'd like to hear than those we will.
Personal choices: Alcoholiday, Teenage Fanclub; Wine, Whiskey and Booze, Minus 5; Titties & Beer, Frank Zappa
Glad we probably won't be hearing: Snortin' Whiskey & Drinking Cocaine-Pat Travers (dumbest name for a drinking song ever)

Agreed, but has any of our 10@10 friends ever played "Boom Boom, Out Go the Lights"? Especially the live version, thats a fun song.
If Ginger wanted super bonus extra credit she'd have played Neil Diamond's original version of RRW.

I give up.
BTW, the location for that scene from Sideways, is the Sanford Winery, which I had been to at least a half dozen times before that movie was made, and which I recognized instantly when I saw the film. I also recognized Chris, the wine guy, was playing himself opposite Paul Giamatti.

Edward Norton's character, toasting his friends (before leaving for a prison stint) in Spike Lee's great 25th Hour. I'd never heard it before then, but I've seen it quoted multiple places since.

I have not seen that, but it's one for my Netflix queue.
And the answer to Ginger's question:
I am NOT drinking any Merlot!!!
