Once Bitten Twice Shy to lead off...

'Alllo...
by the look in her eye
she was givin' what she got!
So superior to the Great White remake it's beyond remarkable.

Ian Hunter solo, I thought.
Anyone else ever sing the opening bars of "Got My Mind Set on You" to the opening of the LZ stomp?

Indeed, it is. Or maybe they were just Mott by then. And who the eff knows?
Nice track #2, Boogie With Stu, BOS2 and counting.

apparently it's old-timey slang for a drunkard.

In Deadwood, the hoopleheads were the Dutch(?) mine workers...

BOS1 Mott; BOS2 LZ
and BOS3 Maude!
-
This Maude clip is great--isn't this the one where the senator kicks the bucket in Maude's bathroom?
-
oh ho ho it's BOS4! Dave's on a roll today.
-
BOS for "Magic" by Pilot. Haven't heard this one in a long time. Since you can't hear it anywhere but 10at10.
ETA: There's a YouTube listing for this. I'll have to watch it later.
Uh oh. Queen is gonna blow 'em all away. As it should. Though pretty Katrinaesque, as noted elsewhere.

I'd never seen/heard that episode before. BOS from me. VHM to Pilot.

Hmm. Katrina's drunk on Moet Chandon, methinks.

What does this mean?

NY's budget default should have segued into "blamin' it all on the Nights on Broadway."

Not now that Quay Lewd is in the house. BOS4 WPOD.

This would be more exciting had Rob not played it recently, but BOS5 anyway.

I didn't hear it, and I cranked it up as much as the funky stream sound would allow! Always a favorite of Stanford Band members.

Second day in a row we've had a bad word slip thru during 10@10:
...'cause my folks are so fucking rich....

LOL! Actually, the opening of WPOD sounded a bit like Aerosmith's "Same Old Song & Dance", and I thought: "good one, Dave".

And double extra credit for letting it roll through the "Is that all right" and Japanese parts.

10cc, "Blackmail" for the zillionth time. I like it but I'm still hoping for "Life is a Minestrone" some day

I just knew you were gonna say that....

"How Long" is a Katrina, but it's just so cool at the beginning. Not many songs you can name from the first two notes -- on the bass. Well, maybe there are a bunch, but I'm still happy to be able to do it on this one.

"How Long" is a Katrina
depends on whether Dave's playing it off CD or vinyl.
ABBA SOS, Best double palindrome of set.

Not sure why, but this set's taken a decidedly southern turn with How Long and now S-O-S--I feel like I've heard both of them a lot--guess the same could be said for the 10cc tune but I've got a soft spot for them.
-
GREAT SET!!! no time to post but Abba compelled me to log in.
BOS SOS
-
BOS2 to Nashville, which I must make a point of seeing in the next week or two.
-
YES!!!!!!! BBBOS to "Fallin' in Love"!!!

For the record, Mark's DB has How Long listed six times, Blackmail five, and SOS only twice. (Admittedly, the version I have here at work is only current thru late April of this year.)
-
BOS # whatever Nashville.
I'd've followed that with Keith Carradine, but H,JF&R will do.
"baby baby, fawin in wuv"

Heh, he does say it that way. I thought you were doing the Elmer Fudd version until the chorus came around again.
-
Proxy of the Princess: "Golden Years," which was '76 but oh well.
-
BOS2 to Nashville, which I must make a point of seeing in the next week or two.
It's pretty great -- add Long Goodbye for an Altman double-bill.

I'm not familiar with that one. I think the only Altman I've seen in its entirety was Cookie's Fortune, which I didn't dislike but wouldn't strongly recommend. Never even saw M*A*S*H the movie.

Agreed to all of the above, and I'd add McCabe and Mrs. Miller and perhaps Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean as well. Short Cuts I go back and forth on--it probably would have been better if it had been cut down a bit, but if you want to see where Paul Thomas Anderson got his inspiration for Magnolia, it's worth a look.
-
Bonus choices: Doobs, "Take Me in Your Arms", Dead, "Franklin's Tower", and JS, "Miracles".
Foghead chooses... Doobies.
-
Belated BOS to WPOD. This was so cool way too many years ago.
-
In comparison to the 11/30 83 set, is this one really that more adventurous? A lot of usual suspects here, really. Nothing earth shattering. And really, a couple of tunes that I dislike more than anything (save the Genesis) in the '83 set.
However, the 70's are my decade,... Cue up the Bowie/Cher video!!!
11/29/2006 - Midweek! Lots o' fun in...1975!!!
1. Ian Hunter - Once Bitten, Twice Shy
2. Led Zeppelin - Boogie With Stu
3. Pilot - Magic
4. Queen - Killer Queen
5. Tubes - White Punks on Dope (BEST OF SET!!)
6. 10cc - Blackmail
7. Ace - How Long
8. ABBA - SOS
9. Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds - Fallin' in Love
10. David Bowie - Golden Years
BONUS TRACK: The Doobie Brothers - Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me)

Point taken, Rod--there's a few personal faves of mine as well, but the only real nugget here is the HJF&R tune. Everything else we've heard a few times at least.
And yeah, we're pretty jaded.

Everything said above is true, and it's no surprise we prefer '70s sets on principle -- '70s Katrinas beat '80s Katrinas 95% of the time, and '70s sets probably feature more breakouts & rarities overall. While there was no bustout in the '75 set (tho' WPOD is pretty rare) and most of the songs are Morey faves, only the Queen and the Bowie show up on KFOG outside 10@10 (even if they show up quite regularly). The '83 set, on the other hand, featured six KFOG playlist staples: the Genesis, Call, Police, Big Country, Kinks and Madness tunes, in addition to the 10@10 Katrinas by Neil and Dolby. The '83 coulda used more pure pop; the '80s equivalents of ABBA (Madonna, perhaps? MJ or his sister?) don't show up nearly as often as they should.

Enjoying the replay, esp. the Zep & Tubes & the Maude.

So "fucking" wasn't censored in the replay on Wednesday night, but it was this morning during the marathon.
Anyone notice if "cunts" made it thru on the Police tune this morning? I was out eating breakfast when it aired.
