Nice segue--Nixon going to China, followed by its admission to the UN and being given the Chinese seat on the security council, into Every Picture Tells a Story.

BOS for everything! This is a great set, up to & including the Peking Ferry. Wish I could comment more, but I gotta be in my car heading to OAK in about 10 minutes & I still have a little packing to do.
Cheerio!

Dang, who IS THIS? Seems like it should be the Jackson 5, or the Temptations, or Sly and the Family Stone, but the voices just don't sound familiar.
ETA: I see it's the Chi-Lites. Not their normal sound, I'd say.

They changed a good bit between 1971 and '74.
And BOS6? 7?--whatever--to Jeepster. Great, chugging guitar work behind this one.
-
We're nearing 10-way tie territory here--BeeGees Lonely Days, Lonely Nights, a real sledgehammer for moi.
-
Last two songs are Lou Rawls' Natural Man and All Day Music from War.
Don't think there were any bustouts today, but who cares? Ten great tunes from 71 on a Monday morning is about as good as it gets.
ETA: Post-set, I see Mshray is still signed in--couldn't tear yourself away? Hope you make your flight, dude. bon voyage--talk to you Friday.

I'm happy to say I heard the whole set and I agree, a fabulous set for a Monday. Radio reception in the courthouse basement isn't the best, but I managed to pull in KFOG. Sadly, KPOO was a different story, tho' I heard a bit of Judge on my lunch hour. 10-way tie with special affection for Lou Rawls.
And yes, this means I'm home -- a half-day of service and I'm a free man. Details in the "Somethin' 'bout my life" thread; back to work tomorrow.

Replay BOS to Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy," which kind of summarizes the past few days for me. Too many 14-hour workdays endured and upcoming. And too bad Ringo was proven wrong about peace being within our reach.

Where the fuck are people singing this kind of material today? They need to start singing louder than the coke rappers ridin' dirty.

Mondegreens don't come easy:
"I don't ask for much/I only want a crust"
"This rubber vine keeps growin' all the time"
Both of those made perfect sense to me when I was 16.
