You don't?  The narative is told in the PoV of a sniper (a la Charles Whitman on the University of Texas clock tower).

Agents of the law
Luckless pedestrians
I know you're out there
With rage in your eyes and your megaphones
Saying all is forgiven
Mad dog surrender
How can I answer
A man of my mind can do anything

Chorus:

I'm a bookkeeper's son
I don't want to shoot no one
Well I crossed my old man back in oregon
Don't take me alive
Got a case of dynamite
I could hold out here all night
Yes I crossed my old man back in Oregon
Don't take me alive

Can you hear the evil crowd
The lies and the laughter
I hear my inside
The mechanized hum of another world
Where no sun is shining
No red light flashing
Here in this darkness
I know what I've done
I know all at once who I am

Chorus:

LGA's a lot smaller and thus a lot easier to deal with.  It's a nuisance to get from either to Manhattan if you're taking public transportation -- http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm has the deets.

LaGuardia is closer if you're gonna take cab or bus; JFK has The Train to the Plane (I think) and that goes into Manhattan. I used LaG in Nov.

LGA is closer to Manhattan than JFK, but every time I'm going to NYC, it seems like the cheaper flights at the more convenient times are into and out of JFK. JFK is about a $45 cab fare to Manhattan (I think it's a flat rate deal.) Or Supershuttle is about $20. Busses/trains are even less.

thanks. i took the bus into town from jfk last year for $1.25. i think that's a good deal. though, i'm sure i could find a bus from lga, too. i'll save my cab fare for getting around IN the city when my high heels become obnoxious.

Caution with SuperShuttle, though: they invariably stop at 4 to 6 other destinations before stopping at yours, resulting in a 1.5-2 hour odyssey through Manhattan.  Depending on how much gear you're packing, might be worth the extra bucks for the cab.  At least robbery there is on a one-to-one basis.

Indeed, a good point. I think my cab fare from LGA to Chelsea on a rainy weeknight at rush hour was 35 bucks.

Vanessa Redgrave was nominated for Supporting Actress in Julia, (and Jason Robards, who won for Supporting Actor, was up against Maximillian Schell from the same film*) but she had also produced a documentary on the plight of the Palestinians that year & was widely picketed, said pickets primarily organized by the JDL.

What she said that got booed out was the following: "...a small bunch of Zionist hoodlums whose behavior is an insult tothe stature of Jews all over the world and their great and heroic record of struggle against fascism & oppression.  I salute you and pledge to you that I will continue tofight against anti-Semitism and fascism."

The rebuttal came from Paddy Chayevsky, who was presenting the Orginal & Adapted Screenplay Awards.

*Jason Robards also beat out Alec Guinness for Star Wars, the only acting nom given to anyone from the Star Wars series.  John Williams won for Original Score, though.

Woody Allen (Annie Hall) beat out George Lucas for Best Director & for Original Screenplay, and ironically, after Chavefsky sadi what he said, he had to present the Adapted Scrrenplay award to Julia.  Earlier Jane Fonda, who was the lead in Julia, had lost the Best Actress award to Dianne Keaton.

Also of note:  this was the year that "You Light Up My Life" won for Best Song.  The absolute nadir of this Oscar.

And Richard Dreyfuss became the first guy under the age of 30 to receive the Best Actor award (he was 29).

Correct as usual.

I was looking in my Oscars book & momentarily forgot that the 1977 entry was for the movie release year, and not the year of the award show.

Point of Know Return was released late in '77, the title track entering the charts on 12/18 of that year.  "Dust" entered the charts on 2/18/78.

quite the innacuracy from Mr. Morey, I must say.
