was this in honor of the Chelsea Clinton voting story from Tues?
Sorry I missed Friends of Dist -- OMFG! Orpheus!!! Gaz!!!

HOLY SHIT - Orpheus, "Can't Find the Time," a major all-time favorite of mine. It was only a hit in Boston; I'm stunned Dave knows it.

I recall it getting some NY play as well... One of those legendary why-wasn't-this-a-smash? records of the time. I suspect it was known regionally even if it didn't hit big anywhere.
Ba-da-da-da-da-da-dah!

i once helped an elderly lady after her husband had fallen down in a crosswalk in front of stonestown. when the paramedicas came, he started talking a bit, though he had hit his head pretty hard. his wife kept trying to get his attention, yelling, "maxwell?! maxwell?!" needless to say, my thoughts were...lyrical.
-
well, BOS Orpheus, obviously, but I'll BOS2 the Beatles (yay), Maxwell, PC31, Rose and Valerie.

I guess none of you guys were listening at about 7:40 (I was driving to a breakfast meeting with my new boss, which is why I was AWOL all morning). Dave talked about it being something that he'd just gotten on CD and "if the wheel cooperated" he was thinking about including it in today's 1969 set. At that point I really wished I could get online to tip y'all off, but couldn't.
Dave went on to say that he said he had 13 songs at that point & maybe it wouldn't make the cut. He asked if Peter or anyone else had heard of it & none had, and then he asked if anyone had heard of Ulitmate Spinach, which he held up as an examplar of the the Bosstown Sound. Peter said he had, But I think maybe he was faking it so Dave wouldn't feel like too much of a geek. Anyway Dave said that he had forgotten how overproduced it was and how lyrically weak it was and implied that he was leaning towards not playing it. So I called and talked him out of that notion.
Unfortunately I didn't get to hear it, though I was in my car for tunes 2-6. Looking forward to the replay tonight.

Oh, wow. I really should talk to Dave. I haven't told y'all yet, but my planned pitch for next year's Experience Music Project Pop Conference is the history of the Bosstown Sound.

Hmm...no intro. Did Dave goof it up this morning? Or did the overnight tech guy hit the wrong button?
-
Catching the replay. Work did not allow proper attention this morning.
I did email in a BOS for Petticoat Junction.
-
i wouldn't mind peeking up ann margret's petticoat junction.
OK... I was puzzled by this post this morning, and now that I'm hearing the replay... I'm still puzzled. Ann-Margret had nothing to do with Petticoat Junction. (But she was on The Flintstones as Ann MargRock.)
-
BOS to the "Wonderful World of Color" and The Avengers theme. Emma Peel could kick Ann-Margret's ass.
-
Orpheus rules. What a gorgeous record.
-
I have always loved the Who's "I'm Free" and for the second time in two days I am hearing it when it really resonates.
But my overall BOS has to go to Friends of Distinction.
-
"Juan is the loneliest hombre Dave'll ever do."
-
I sure hope Urth can archive this one. Great tunes. Great clips. Great great set.

"i'm free" was played right before petticoat junction.

you're probably one of the few people who think of A-M whenever they hear something from Tommy
Mmmmm... chocolate...
