That guy sure can't hum. I thought this was gonna be Trio's "Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me". Lots of holes in this one. But EvilLyrics fills in the spaces.

Dunno if I've already asked this, but are there at least three distinct recordings of this song? I've noticed dissimilarities that seem to go beyond remixing. VHM, at any rate.

sounds like the orig indie-label version, and not the RCA remake. But I always get 'em confused.
J.Geils when they were... commercial.

i don't get them confused, though i wouldn't know which is rca, and which isn't. i only know this one is not as "complex."

I know of 2. the indie and then the RCA re-do. Are you thinking of the Orange Slice commercial it later became?

Mike's right, and I have both MP3's. This one is available on Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of the 80's, vol 4 (iirc)

Woo Hoo! BOS the Jam! "A Town Called Malice", one of the GREAT singles of that period.
-
BOS to "A Town Called Malice." I'm a sucker for that "Lust for Life"/"Touch Me"/"C'Mon Marianne"/"Are You Gonna Be My Girl" groove. (Is there a name for it?)

Had that tune ever appeared in a year-based set before? I know I've heard it in a couple of Turkey or HFH sets, but I don't recall it in an 82 set before.
BOS1 Town Called Malice. Not too tough to connect the dots from this to Style Council.

I hadn't thought of that aspect of it, but you're dead on. I always think of it as a Booker T. hommage because of the organ.

don't forget "can't hurry love" and "your love (keeps lifting me higher)."

Jon sounds especially prissy on this one.
-
BOS2 to "I Burn for You," which over the years has become perhaps my favorite Police tune. Sting at his sexiest.

it was only a matter of time.
Sting's burning 4 U. I've got some ointment for that, Mr Sumner.

I'm sure I've never heard it, but it sounds more like the Fixx than anything else I can think of.

BOS2 Bow Wow Wow!
-
Woo Hoo!! Bow Wow Wow!!! Annabella RULES!
-
This is definitely one for the archives now.
-
BOS2 Bow Wow Wow!
a song that capitalises on the bo diddley beat (not the booker t. groove), much like george michael's "faith."

My sentiments exactly--this is kinda wussy for prog rock. No big drums or mountains of keyboards. Still, Jon Anderson does carry that cachet, so I suppose there are elements of prog here.
BOS2 Bow Wow Wow, I Want Candy.

Nice Victor/Victoria. I've never seen it. Didn't know it had Professor Harold Hill in it.
-
The obligatory V/V clip. "They'll know heeee's a phony!"

OMG! you've gotta see it, it's really terrific (well, except for the songs). Preston is wonderful in it.

I forget, was S.O.B. before or after this? Prof. Hill was awesome in both.
-
Marshal Crenshaw always welcome.

After, I'm pretty sure. That's the one in which Julie showed off the twins, yes?
BOS3 Pete, Exquisitely Bored. Little heard gem from All the Best Cowboys... Pino Palladino on bass, iirc.

BOS #3 or 4, lost count.
Now I got to go to the stupid meeting in which I tell them that I have nothing left to tell them. Oh well, it'll all be over soon.

lengthy phone call made me miss Pete and most of Kim. BOS's to both. A fine set from a year that's often dull as dishwater, 10@10-wise.
-
Bonus: "Abracadabra". Well, the set was good, at least

Rare indeed that the set outstrips the bonus track. Fine, fine 82 set however--will try to do the archival thing but may not be feasible. Backup would be much appreciated.

jeez, I like the bonus track a lot, and don't even know #1, 3, and 10 (not sure about #6). Either this is an odd '82 set, or I'm just very out of touch with '82.

Stevie Wonder, "Part-Time Lover," then.

also: The Clash's "Hitsville UK" contains that baseline/riff, iirc. And Annie Golden's great, overlooked "Hang Up the Phone" from the Sixteen Candles sndtk.
