For birthdays and babies...
WOO HOO! I can't remember the last time a VT reached back to the '60s.
-
Predictions: Either '71, '73, or '74 is Macca/Wings; and '76 is the Miracles' "Love Machine."
-
Most Unnecessary of Set: The Beatles (yay), "Revolution," which we get quite enough of, thanks.

I was thinking "My Love," weirdly enough, but might as well nix that with R#1.
Meantime, BOS to "Suspicious Minds," they just don't get better than this.
-
BOS elvis, one of the great pop singles of the era.

"My Love" was spring of '73, actually.
-
BOS1, 2 & 3 to the 'Oo, the King, and JT, respectively.
-
Sweet JT

For years I was under the mistaken impression that James Taylor had appeared on "Smile a Little Smile for Me" because of that line about "flying machines in pieces on the ground."
-
Best Percussion of Set: Hollerin' Marvin.
-
BOS2 Mah man Mah-vin! make me wanna holla, yo.

But you do know that he was in a band with that name... but SALSFM was by a diff outfit with the same name (Brits, iirc).
-
And Leon's getting LAAAAR-GER! BOS3 "Tightrope", a welcome hit single for a cult artist at the time.
-
This is all well and good, but I hope we get something other than the usual suspects in here somewhere.
ETA: That is to say, not songs like "Ramblin' Man". Even though I love the Allmans.
-

Agreed, but this is Billboard chart-based (top ten I think Dave said), so good luck with that.

I see. Well, top 10 isn't gonna result in any surprises, I'd imagine.

B-B-B-Baby, you ain't offended people with speech impediments yet!
-
OK, who was it who invoked "Island Girl" earlier this morning?
-
BOS4 de Island Girl, mon! What she wanted wit de white mon's world?
-
"She'll wrap herself around you like a well-worn tire?"
Did I hear that correctly?
-
OK, who was it who invoked "Island Girl" earlier this morning? For shame...
OH NOES MY APOLOGIES
-
"She'll wrap herself around you like a well-worn tire?"
Did I hear that correctly?
Dat be what he said, mon. The patois is embarassing in this tune. I used to love it, but...ick. Of course, when I loved it, I had no idea what he was saying. I think I thought he was saying "I'm a Girl".
ETA: I guess, not quite "ick". It still sounds fantastic.
-
"She'll wrap herself around you like a well-worn tire?"
Did I hear that correctly?
yes you did. Elton was a rubber fetishist! quelle surprise!
-
"She'll wrap herself around you like a well-worn tire?"
Did I hear that correctly?
This is another candidate for alliterative song phrasing:
"Tell me what you wanted wit your white man's world"
Right up there with "little old lady got mutilated late last night."
-
Everybody's high on consolation. BOS5 H&O, a small masterpiece.

Everybody's high on consolation. BOS5 H&O, a small masterpiece.
Yeah, this is good. And no pun in the title.
ETA: We got both kinds of pollution. Carbon AND monoxide!
-
BOS4 de Island Girl, mon! What she wanted wit de white mon's world?
BOS for me too.
-
bonus: "We Just Disagree".
