Well, let's just say it's a year you're gonna want to hear.

does it involve the Tigers and the Cardinals?

There's a distinct possibility, yes.
-
So what did Dave actually say before you posted this?

Hey!!! I was told we'd hear the clip we've all been waiting for today.
Oh well, '74 is not so bad.

*LETDOWN*
Well, I love '74 but I really thought '68 was nigh. And once again we're hearing a year exactly three weeks after our last visit. This has gone past the realm of coincidence -- a corporate edict, perhaps, re: '70s & early '80s?

Me too, bro--me too.
And yes, the increased frequency of 73 thru, say, 86 is likely from some sort of managerial memo. Either that, or there was a policy from the previous administration requiring a wider variety of years that's no longer in effect.

VHM and proxy of cairo The Dan.
Does anyone listen to the Morning Show intently enough to say whether Dave's actually played "Tigers Rah" this week?
-
I never realized he pronounced Cinque as "Sin Q". Never trust a revolutionary who violates the laws of phonics.
Get that damn lamb outta the street! Second time in a week!

He hasn't played it between 8am and 8:35 or so, but I can't speak for the rest of the show.
BOS1 The Lamb...
Cinque, imperial aerosol kid...
-

I had the same thought!

The Patti/SLA clips are cool, but we haven't been venturing too far afield musically, when the not-infrequently-heard Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Tin Man are vying for the biggest nugget of set.
-
BOS Tom Waits. Wonderful.

Scratch that--Tom Waits' Heart of Saturday Night just left 'em all in the weeds.

But you have to admit, that sounds better and more exotic than "SANK." Perhaps he should have spelled it "Cinqueue." :?:

Second best segue of set: the SLA bank robbery clip into Raised on Robbery.

We should have been able to predict this one!

I always assumed it was "sin-kay" (as if it were, y'know, French).
I'm tempted to say it's a black thing (see: Chone Figgins, not to mention half the NFL) but I'm sure someone can come up with a white guy with a misspelled name.

indeed. But a treat nonetheless. BOS2 Joni; BOS3 Roxy.

Anyone else notice how this kind of harkens to Jackson Browne's Redneck Friend? Might just be the tempo.
BOS3 Out of the Blue. The rarely heard English horn on the intro--too cool.
-
Some parts of the set are predictable, but overall, it's awesome, with some real special things like Tom Waits and this less-played Roxy Music tune. Great phasing on "Out of the Blue"!

Funny, I always knew it to be pronounced "sin-cue", but having grown up here in NorCal, we heard a lot more coverage of the whole ordeal than you guys did in NY or St. Louis.

True, but given the fact that that tape existed, why did the national media -- we're talking the Big 3 Networks -- continue to mispronounce it?

Speaking of funny names, some high school running back got Player of the Week honors in the Chron last Wed. His name was Taiwan Jones, and no, he was not in any way asian.
Christina was cracking up when I showed her that.
