Here's what I posted in my (now deleted) thread for today:

Dave's gut tells him it's gonna be a good one. I'm reserving judgement...

I've heard that one before.

I feel my snarkiness starting to rise...  think I'll  go take a shower, maybe this set will sound better in the bathroom.

Love Plus One. Hopefully this will take care of the sax-inflected pseudo tropical tunes for the day and we can escape without having to endure Men At Work.

Hey, a guy can hope....

There's always Theme Thursday on the Kink.  First song is "Sunny Came Home", which is an Alison, so maybe that's the theme.

So I always thought Asia was pretty phoney, even though it sort of combined 2 of my favorite 70's bands, Yes and ELP.

But, man I still like to listen to almost *any* song that Greg Lake sings ... what a great voice (IMHO).

You know why I know you're gay?  Because you have an *Asia* poster on your wall.

Yep, me too. Except the singer in Asia was John Wetton (ex-King Crimson, UK), not Greg Lake.

Let it Whip--now this is a bustout methinks. Dazz Band, no?

ETA:  Found out last weekend that my favorite Schroeder cousin came out to my dad while my folks were visiting him.  Which makes two now, the other one came out to me last summer.  I don't think either of them has any Asia posters.  But *I* used to.

No not a bustout -- it was the last time Dave played it (maybe 6 months ago?) and we had a discussion about who it was (Dazz Band is correct). Guess it did well enuf in the voting for Dave to try again.

That's not Greg Lake singing "Only Time Will Tell"??? sure sounds like him.

The LP was certainly '81, but WOAF charted as a single in Dec of that year and lingered into '82.

Nope, not a bustout. Per the DB, we heard it in January of this year. Still gets my BOS.

Had me fooled too... guess I like Greg Lake sound-alikes almost as much as the real thing...   8)

So does Dave plays songs the year the song charts? or the year the album was released? Seems to be different to me at times.

"we like to play songs from when people remember them" is the line Dave often uses. So, yes, it can be either one.

I had missed almost all of this set the first time around, but you all apparently missed the great segue.  First Reagan talking about how removing most of the restrictions and governmental oversight from the Thrift industry would make a positive difference in the housing market & the economy as a whole.  Then DP comes in and says "Can I hear the again?", after which Dave replays the part where Reagan guarantees good things will happen to the economy, and then it's onto Bowie...putting out fires with gasoline.

Quite a zinger.
