Post by: urth on September 28, 2006, 09:59:23 AM
I vaguely remember this song, but can't tell ya who it is.

First instinct is Rick Springfield, but I don't think thati's it. Very similar sounding though.

Ah, our token midwesterner comes thru...

And now the Tubes' Amnesia--yes, this sounds like 1981 but not in a good way.

damn phone call made me miss MSB -- tho' I prefer their '70s stuff.

But I'm with urth -- not a promising start. Of course, it coulda been a '90s set as part of Crock of Ages.

I'll BOS this too -- tho' I'd've preferred "Friends of Mr Cairo".  Polyphonic Spree should cover this one, pronto.

Forgot to mention this yesterday--did anyone catch the ad that followed yesterday's Ginger-set for the Styx/Oreo Speedcookie concert someplace in the Boulder area? Wonder when that bill is going to get to Konocti, and collectively how many original members are taking part?

Not anymore they're not.

When was the time anyone around here predicted (sort of) two consecutive sets?

Got me. But I think I called three or four songs in one set a few months back. Mike's done that a few times too.

His voice sounds kind of strained here--a bit of indulgence between 77 and 81, Mr. Gibb?

Hahaha!  The legacy of Styx, summarized in 12 words.

PS: Andy Gibb in 1981 serves only one purpose, and that's as an anti-drug advertisement. (LOL at "it's VP's fault," though -- he really did work that angle to the press . . .)

Kind of an amusing back-to-back, though: from Celebration's black appropriation of white culture to Rapture's white appropriation of black culture.  or something like that.
