Called it!
What was that clip making fun of the Carter Administration?
-
I waited until the 2nd song, so: VHM Dave Mason, proxy WOS for Gaz to Andrew Gold.
-
my housemate says the beginning of "lonely boy" sounds like "manic monday."
-
Proxy WOS for Gaz - "Oh What A Lonely Boy".

my housemate says the beginning of "lonely boy" sounds like "manic monday."
your housemate is stoned, methinks.
I never heard that Carter nickname clip before either.

It's kinda ironic given the Bushman's penchant for silly nicknames. But I guess that's what Dave had in mind...
-
revved up like a douchebag!
-
Come and knock on my door...
-
CSN makes a reappearance.
-
that girl never gets tired of looking at Steven's crotch...
I liked Ginger's CSN better than Dave's today.

woohoo!!! bos of the year to kenny loggins!!

How cruel of Jack Cassidy to not leave anything to poor little David Cassidy.
-
I used to have a Chevy Vega!
Needed a quart of oil with each tankful.
-

But we've heard ELO, god knows.

good year. Tuning in late. Came up empty for lower level Aersmith tix on the presale.
-
How cruel of Jack Cassidy to not leave anything to poor little David Cassidy.
A NYC deejay was severely reprimanded for playing "Fire" and dedicating it to Jack Cassidy. Same guy who played "Freddie's Dead" when Freddie Prinze killed himself.

Wasn';t this ELO in Billy Madison where the psycho guy with the hit list crosses Billy off after he calls to apologize and the dud then sits there applying red lipstick to himself?
-
oh whatthehell, I'll BOS ELO -- another college radio flashback.
VHM 10cc, another Gaz WOS candidate.

I'm proud to say I've never seen Billy Madison.

That would have really hurt me. I was a big "Chico and the Man" fan. I took it pretty hard when Freddie offed himself. And then they brought in a little kid to "replace" him. It was pitiful when Jack Albertson called him "Chico" just because he missed Freddie. (Actually, I don't remember that part at the time; I saw it on TVLand fairly recently).

Woo Hoo! Andy Gibb! BOS # whatever.

BOS #2 Bee Gee's Andy Gibb. (oops!)

I used to have a Chevy Vega!
Needed a quart of oil with each tankful.
My grandfather (well, step- ) had a Vega. 1972, I want to say. I could almost swear the back seat was made of burlap, and the thing reeked of his cigars. Mt grandmother's car was a far more pleasant ride. It was white (I think) and smelled of her hair care products and Pall Malls.
What was the 10cc track I WOS'ed? And what was the Kenny?

I don't remember much about the show apart from the theme; how did they deal with Freddie's departure? I'm surprised the show continued at all. Guess it would've been even weirder to retitle it "The Man."

Ah. Good call, then, on the WOS votes. But I've never heard the KL song! Is it on the "Celebrate Me Home" album? I have it on cassette, might have to dig it out.

I think that's Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore is the onewhere he's an uncouth golf pro. Could be wrong tho'. I saw The Waterboy, but it was against my will.

I generally only watch Adam Sandler films when they're playing on airplanes. A friend here insisted I borrow her copy of 50 First Dates a few weeks back, and I got thru maybe 45 minutes of it before I had to turn it off. I've had people tell me Billy Madison is good, but just haven't felt compelled to find out for myself.

BOS #3, Alan Parsons.

I don't really remember, but I don't think it lasted too long.

I actually paid to see 50FD just for Sean Astin (ah loves me some Seanie!). and I thought his "serious" one, Punch Drunk Love, was overrated. But apparently he's quite good in another serious one, Reign O'er Me, a dealing-with-the-emotional-aftermath-of-9/11 drama, coming next year.

"luckily for everybody else, the Dead won BOS"
translation: Big Rick doesn't have anything to be snarky about later today.

anybody else REALLY sick of this "Rock of Ages" promo?

The one with the bellicose-sounding gospel preacher? Yeah, about three days ago.

You were on the air, Ali?
I hate not getting to listen to anything in real-time. (BTW, kids, I'm off next week, though I might be spending at least some of it in Boston, unless a last-minute fare compels me to go apartment-hunting in SF.)

I'm on vacay the following week (10/2-10/9) in the hopes of seeing a couple of A's first-round playoff games and a couple of shows: Tom Stoppard's Travesties, which I've never seen, is at A.C.T. and Roy Zimmerman (of the late lamented Foremen) is doing his one-man show at the Marsh. And then there's Elvis C for free in GGPark on Fri the 6th. Anyone else besides Urth and myself going to that one?
-
TANC. I am streaming MAX FM and they just played Smoke from a Distant Fire. That was one of the bonus track choices offered and I considered it before choosing Isn't it Time. I totally wanted the flashback and now got it.
I'll be going home now!
I wish.

Proxy JINX!
So it's 1970 and our "Lonely Boy" has shown up at a shelter for teen runaways.
LB: Why are you here?
Runaway #1: My mother was a drug abuser and my father used to beat me.
Runaway #2: I was thrown out for dating a black man. How about you?
LB: Um ... my folks had a second kid.
R1 and R2: Whoa. Dude.

But they said he was the only son -- and he thought he was the only ONE!!! Harsh.
Meanwhile, Kenny Loggins was whining about sleeping in an empty bed. On a yacht...
