Got a feeling we're heading late 80s today--87 maybe?
ETA: As usual, missed by a couple of years. Crapton to lead off.
-
Crapton to lead off.
beat me to it!
Bob's '85 set was quite fine; Dave has his work cut out to top it, and Slowhand ain't gettin' it done. But hey, it's just one song, right?

Hey, here's one of the songs in the bunch of My Three Songs I posted on Friday. In fact when I mentioned that the exact answer to one trio had been posted in the thread, it was the one including Huey here.

I was always disappointed that this one became the "theme" of "Back to the Future" instead of the greatly superior and more apropos "Back in Time".

well, yes, "BIT" is the more interesting and appropriate song, but "POL", Katrina tho' it is, is a seriously great pop single and the record company was thinking "#1 Hit" as well as "Possible 'Best Song' Oscar Nomination", and they got both.

Whoa--I don't believe Dave's actually playing the entire Lords of the New Church version of this--sounds like they took singing lessons from Peter Gabriel circa 1975.

BOS2 Downbound Train. Shoulda been a bigger hit.
"Now I work down at the car wash, where all it ever does is rain..."
What the hell was that? Track skipped...
...Several times. Bummer, but glad Dave bailed out if it was gonna keep it up.

Dave stops the madness! This song sounds nearly exactly like another Bruce hit, even lyrically: "I had a job workin' construction for the Johnstown company. But lately there ain't been much work, on account of the economy." "Down by the River", that's it.
-
W needs some of this stuff, "Immunity from ridicule. Improves your brian if you're a fool."

I don't think it was actually a single, if memory serves.

here's the huey we missed earlier. make a one man weep.
To avoid the awkward "make-a" construction, I prefer to think that the lyric's "make a wan man weep."
As for Broooce, c'mon, wasn't 7 singles enough?

i think the awkward "make-a" construction was approved for use by the fcc in 1984.
