Damn, second great set from Bob this week that I've missed (getting blood drawn for my annual checkup).  I'd need proxies for the Moodies, the Marvin & the Who at a minimum.

Gotta do my annual in a couple weeks -- it's time for (gulp) my first colonoscopy. (yeah -- TMI, I know)

Last chance to play that one in context, eh?  Isleys did it even better, but I do love the wood blocks and other percussive effects on the original.

There's a local band somewhat reminiscent of the DMB that I've suggested do a cover of this, with the hook played on alto sax and numerous vocal tradeoffs in the verses (including females doing the "sweet days of summer, the jasmine's in bloom / July is dressed up and playing a tune" as was done in Joe Cocker's "Help From My Friends").  They've not taken me up on the idea, alas.

of course, it was a hit in late autumn/early winter, like many a "summer song" ("Beach Baby", Sly's "Hot Fun", etc).
