And we got every kind o' people....
-
A soothing start.
-
And we got every kind o' people....
and a lovelier start I couldn't've imagined. BOS.
-
"honest men know that revenge does not taste sweet".
are you feelin' me, Dubya?
-
Mr Walsh is taken by surprise, but we're not -- he's become quite the 10@10 regular.

"Take the big ones home, let the little ones go"...very evocative song for me.
-
OMGWTF!!! The (superior, IMHO) Tavares version of "More Than a Woman". BOS2
-
Good David Gilmour tune too.
-
a Floyd trifecta -- wonder if Bob managed to play them in his '71 set for a grand slam?

BOS.
Had to take a call and missed most of it.
-
Damn fine set so far, and we're only on what, song #4? Not a loser in the bunch!
Sounds like this is a b-day set for one o' Dave's Detroit homies.
-
another deeply evocative song for me, "There's No Way Out Of Here". This was about what my mood was for most of my last two years of HS.

didn't need no education?
didn't need no thought control?

Another great cover song, George Benson's walkin' down that street...

I was in college when that came out.

Another great cover song, George Benson's walkin' down that street...
... and hittin' on the princess of cairo! (y'all have heard her George B story, I assume)

I remember this song just being all over the radio in '78 ... it brings me right back there...

My kids delight in singing along with that one, now.

This is turning into a real great set, BOS #n+1 Starship, "Love Too Good".
-
OMG, hope Gaz is tuned in someplace, or can be in 12 hours--here's the rarely played (at least on 10@10) Love Too Good--probably Grace's biggest contribution to the Earth album.
-
OMGWTF2! proxy of Gazoo for Grace, who's been too long in the cage.

Can't say as I have...care to fill me in?

she's gotta tell it herself, I couldn't possibly do it justice.
George thought she was a "Sweet Talkin' Woman". Well, guess ELO were inevitable in '78.

But if this as close as we get to Katrinaville, I'm thrilled!

She's a great story teller. I enjoyed her close encounter with Madeline Peyroux story.

another BOS for Gerry Rafferty, "Home And Dry".
-
BOS Gerry Rafferty.
Back in time to hear the rest of it.
Lovely.
-
BOS whatever to Mr Rafferty. This has been a superb set, even better than Dave's '74 excursion the other day, and that's saying something.
-
another BOS for Gerry Rafferty, "Home And Dry".
Agreed, although I'd love to hear some Cheap Trick--they were huge in my 1978 world, but so far they haven't made it into a 10@10 for this year so far as I recall.
ETA: As I suspected--just consulted Mark's magic DB and found we've heard exactly two song (I Want You to Want Me and The Flame) four times each--in 1978 and 1988 sets respectively (although one of the 88 incidences was representing that year in a VT).
-
But if this as close as we get to Katrinaville, I'm thrilled!
Sure hope you can archive this one Urth.
OOoooh, some funky EW&F, this just keeps gettin' better.
-
another BOS EWF

From your keyboard to god's ears. Happening as I type this.

everybody sing along with Philip:
ah ah ah ah ah AH ah ah ah ah
-
and we close (?) with the presumptive BOS winner, Todd. A nearly flawless set.
-
So much for Gerry's chance of winning BOS.

Indeed. If my birthday request doesn't come thru tomorrow (and I'm trying to maintain a very Zen outlook about that) this will serve quite nicely in its stead.

Justice triumphs!!! Gerry takes home the BOS crown!!
-
Ha! BOS Home and Dry.
as it should be.

I called in my vote, and said "I want to vote for Gerry Rafferty and I really hope he beats Todd for once."
Lo & Behold!

Early birthday wishes. Did you make a special request?

I'll tell ya tomorrow--don't want to jinx it. (If I haven't already.)

This is my Evans & Zager post, it's number 5252.
-
Bonus track was "I Wanna Be Sedated", but ohmygod, it could have been "Ca Plane Pour Moi".
-

TANC: I was just listening to the Earth album in its near-entirety yesterday. Love that one but I was moreso in the mood for her malcontent anthem "Show Yourself." "Are you RCA? Are you Standard Oil? Are you AT&T? I wanna see!"
Hope you've all been well. I've been flush with work but also sufficiently annoyed with humanity that I decided to bail on most of it for the past week-plus. Now just biding time until November elections and January job prospects give me an idea of whether 2007 might be a better year than this one.

-
Missed Gilmour while at work. Appreciating it now.
Nice.
a little air guitar being played.

I somehow missed this segue this morning: from Harvey Milk, "every gay person must come out" to... "On Broadway"? Dave, the gay people on Broadway are already out...
-
Love Too Good
Good vocals, good tune, what the heck was she dealing with or working through when she did this?

I'm playing the air keyboards right now on the outro of "Love To Good"...
-
BOS Home and Dry.
Was Powers on about 6 tonight? I was driving home and the KFOG DJ sounded like such a dick. Trying to appeal to a much younger audience I think. Goofing on Home and Dry and just rambling is a stupid annoying way. I had to tune away.
-
Todd should have followed Love Too Good.

At that hour, more likely it was Big Rick. I heard him on the air a bit later, so I'm pretty sure that's who it was.

I made a cassette for dancing in between our old band's sets, I nicknamed Disco Dummy, and this track was the leadoff. Audience reaction was more positive to the tape than our first set, although it also tended to warm them up for our next set!

I heard that too, and it was mos def Big Rick. I used to really like him, but for the past year or so I have found him just as likely to annoy the crap out of me as to make me grin. Once he started playing Gerry I forgot all about it though.

Tuesday's 74 wasn't bad, but this was the set o' the week, imo. Hands down.
