I thought this was a Labor Day Redux set.

An appropriate day-after-a-holiday-song if there ever was one. Moving kind of slow this am--got used to staying up late and sleeping til 10.

whenever Dave sez "fairly recent past" I assume it's gonna be '90s.  So I'm relieved to hear '83.

oops, spoke too soon: Mother of all '83 Katrinas, "Our House".

But I will BOS Todd, I will never understand the hatred for that one.

I'm baffled as to why Dave likes this particular Adam Ant tune. Plays it a lot, but has never played "Antmusic", for example.

Likewise. Nice to hear this, for some reason it's not nearly such the novelty hit as She Blinded Me (With Science).

BOS2 fake Gabriel.

ETA: Make that fake Genesis. I'd forgotten how much this sounds like early-70s Genesis--the synths, the sustain-laden Hackett-esque guitar, and of course the vox.

I was listening to my iPod clone on the drive in and the last song I heard in my massive 80's New Wave playlist was "The Prince" by Madness, and I was wondering why everyone plays "Our House" to death & no one plays any of their other great hits.

Marillion = sounds like Genesis.
Saga = sounds like Loverboy.

BOS Police, especially with that nice segue from Dave.  Saw them in concert that year & this was the best song of the set.

I'll BOS the Police just cause it's not one of the obvious tracks from Synchronicity.

"brontosaurus/lesson for us" -- Tee Hee.

BOS3 T. Heads, Moon Rocks.

ETA: Now that I think of it, those two fab T. Heads Greek Theater shows were around this time of year in 83, I believe, right after Labor Day. Warm night, hot band, great seats...ah, memories.

Memories can't wait...

yay for the heads, and now for prince! i can't listen to this song without remembering when he was on the muppet show, and all the muppets came out scantily-clad, dancing, and singing "delirious!"

Damn, and we were doing so well. If the set had just ended with the Edmunds tune, I'd have been happy. Instead we get Martha Davis droning about lost summer memories...feh.

Funny. I like the Madness song and hate the Todd Rundgren song. I hate that song because it's the song the Green Bay Packers play every time they score a touchdown and I HATE the Packers.

Actually most of us like the Madness song... it's just incredibly overplayed on 10@10 and on KFOG in general.
