"an energetic start today" sez Ginger, "Talk To Ya Later".
-
VHM Henry Fonda, that old poop.
-
BOS early Church -- "Unguarded Moment".
-
VHM "Mercury Blues". a dozen years later, Alan Jackson would turn it into a country hit.

This is one of my prime "why-TF-doesn't Dave play-this" songs, he loves main- & late-era Church, why can't he stick this song in one of his 1981 sets????
BOS "Abacab", pretty much the last great Genesis song.
-
BOS2 Joy Division, a seminal New Wave anthem.
-
BOS3 Stones, one of my faves from Tattoo You, "Hang Fire".
Say whutdehell, say whutdeHELL!

Fucking-A, this is TOO resonant for me today. Great song, but chrissakes, I really didn't need to burst into tears in the middle of Ginger's set.

wow, "Icehouse" by Icehouse -- I don't think I've heard this before.
-
BOS4 "Canary in a Coalmine", another personal fave (and I'm just glad it's not "Spirits" yet again).

Overall Ginger's set sound like Bob's but they haven't overlapped yet.
VHM "Jenny (867-5309)" I was just wondering if we could make a set of songs involving telephone calls.

but of course.
ELO "Telephone Line"
Chuck Berry, "Memphis"
you're taking about songs where the narrator is on the phone in the course of the lyric, yes?

TMI Spoiler warning: I'm gonna get maudlin for a minute.
[TMI]Very rough, very cathartic night last night vis-a-vis my marital relationship. My folks are here & I broke down in front of them, and this song was going through my head. But my folks are great (Dad's an experienced marriage counselor) and they talked very supportively to each of us. I had really planned to spare them this until the last day or two of their visit, but for some inexplicable reason it all came out last night. Bottom line though, it's a load off. Now everyone knows how I have been feeling & I don't have to try to contain/hide it. Maybe this will result in progress, maybe not, but at least the burden of secrecy is off my shoulders.

Something like that. I'd throw in Croce's "Operator", that Pink Floyd song from The Wall, Little Feat's "Rocket In My Pocket" (my baby called me up, she said "Why don't you ever take me out..."), etc.

Damn, Mark... hope unloading was indeed helpful.
FYI: 10:00 meeting, so no Dave for me today. Take copious notes!

Thanks for the kind thought. I feel kind of hollow, but that's worlds better than feeling tied up in knots.
