ETA "Freeze-Frame" makes it obvious: 1982.

Oh baby, I'm dreaming of it NOT being Monday. But BOS the Jam.

Think it could be 81, actually. The Geils tune was released in fall of 81 (but was a hit in 82, and the Jam tune came out in 80, so thinking it's gotta be 81.

Well, we just heard it ain't 82 or 83. I had thought it was 80 during Freeze-Frame. But 81 is certainly possible.

indeed, Dave just shot down '82. So much for Hot 100 chart action. '81 it must be.
BOS Greg Kihn. it's Kihn-tageous!

Dave's fave Sandinista Katrina, "Mag 7". ANY other track from this LP woulda been BOS; "Hitsville UK" woulda been Best of Month.

Yup. DM just confirmed via IM.
VHM Magnificent Seven. Yeah, probably a katrina, but who cares? Great tune.

BOS for The Clash. Bet he doesn't play the loooooong version in which he says "fucking long, idn't it?"
-
BOS3 Joe Dolce!!! that great country songwriter (seriously) slumming with a novelty tune.
"HEY!"
-
HM for Demolition Man.

Certainly a Katrina within the context of this album -- it's a near-brilliant 3-record set and this is virtually the only song from it that Dave ever plays.
-
it's a Petty Grand Slam -- he's been in all 4 sets this morning and "The Waiting" has been in both '81's.
-
VHM "Guhls on Film"
-
VHM for Duran Duran Duran Duran Duran, and the second appearance of camera clicking sounds in the set. Bookends?
-
And it's a motor-drive twin-spin--both the Geils and the Duran Duran tunes feature the sound effect of a camera's motor drive in their intros.
Come up with a third and we've got a M3S.
-
Eeeks, "Lunatic Fringe", surely a Katrina by now.
-
who was that guy who said '74??? And where can we get his drugs?
-
VHM "Guhls on Film"
Dave's copping our lines again. We should get residuals...
-

I had no idea he was C/W. Vagulely recall that this caused some controversy with the charts in the U.K. But what I really remember is that last time Dave played this in a set, I was in town for an all-too-brief visit, and heard this just after I'd boarded the bus going from the Transbay Terminal to SFO. Weirdly fun to hear this while riding past the scourges of Mission in the low streets.

Actually he writes in many genres:

Too bad I missed this set. It's been 25 years since I've heard the Joe Dolce song.
