That's what the promo I heard yesterday afternoon said. Guessing '77, it's most overdue (early July).
-
I was actually hoping for something lame, as I need to get some work done and so far this morning... zip. zilch. nada. none.

And he gives bday wishes to Alicat!
-
OK. Disco is a possibility here.
-
Ali gets birthday clubbed!! Not to mention Ram-Jammed.
-
OMG -- is this a looooong version of "Black Betty"??? this guitar break is new to me. BOS on that basis alone; I was just about to call it a semi-Katrina.
-
I don't seem to remember suffering as much to this
-

Dang, got a phone call right at the beginning & missed the birthday club.
Double Dang, had the office to myself, with the expectation that my co-worker was coming a bit late & cranked up "Black Betty"...for all of 20 seconds before my co-worker came in.

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. I'm not quite awake yet this am.

You misspelled cow orker, Mark. I was amazed to see 1977 was the year for "Black Betty". Seems a lot more 1970ish to me. Guess it was kinda retro even when it came out.

It sure is, and the radio edit sucks in comparison.
-
BOS2 Mickey McD & the Doobs, "Echoes of Love". Fie on the McDonald-haters, this is lovely.

You may have to add a field to your DB to indicate when a song is the loooong version and when it's not.

for you riff-rock afficionados, I guess it's cool, but for others, it's just more pain!

If I told you that was Jeff Beck or Jimmy Page...
-
BOS3 Kinks!
-
BOS Sleepwalker!!!
Everybody got problems baby, I got mine...
-
what year was that SNL parody where Jimmy Carter (Ackroyd) talks down a tripping caller?
-
BOS Sleepwalker!!!
Everybody got problems baby, I got mine...
I'm a night stalker!
BOS for sure.

Beck or Page were not immune to wretched excess either, I guess I just never liked the track.

Ditto the BOS. Great set so far.

-
was that a little taste of Shuggie before switching to The Brothers J?

Huh???
meaning -- loooong version. That intro is on the album, iirc.
-
Super hit 666: Foreigner "Cold as Ice"
One of their better tracks, IMHO. Cheeze, perhaps, but tasty cheese, rather than the smelly kind.

Fab, along with Head Games

the most welcome Katrina of All!
Dancing Queen! Go Alicat Go!
-
Disco Abba!!! Is Ali dancin' in her cube?
-
Dancing Katreen. nice but unnecessary -- Dave could dig deeper.
-
BOS Abba.
-
Gotta say, the production on Dancin Queen is sounding pretty good this am, although I think I'm sticking with Ray & Dave & the boys as my BOS so far.
-
did anyone see the show on PBS this weekend?

I phoned in my Kinks vote.

linked to another Southern President
"Don't Stop!"

It IS a fabulous single, even if I've heard it a few too many times. But did people still "jive" in 1977? Oh those wacky English-as-a-second-language Swedes!
-
VHM FMac
77 holds fine memories. Most of these tunes bring it back.

linked to another Southern President
"Don't Stop!"
that's what he said to Monica L.
-
BOS3 BOC! go go "Godzilla"!!!
-
OH NO!!!
There goes a proxy for Beejzilla & BOS #5 for me.
-
OOoooo, BOS2 (and proxy BOS for Messrs. Rod & Beej) BOC.
History shows, again and again....
-
BOS for Godzilla for me too. Not the best song by any stretch, but most fun to hear today.
-
BOS3 BOC! go go "Godzilla"!!!
(actually BOS4 but that wouldn't've rhymed.)
-
BOS3 BOC! go go "Godzilla"!!!
Calling Beej-zilla?
-
Can we make a M3S entry of songs with spoken Japanese (or fake Japanese even) in them, such as this one?
-
one of the oddest bills was seeing them open for Jefferson Starship at Winterland. They were pretty funny though, as most fans seemed luded out. They did a Spinal Tap moment when all of them played a guitar (even the drummer and keyboard player) in some precursor of "Big Bottom"
-
eeek! David Dundas.
-
is this organ riff in "My Old Blue Jeans" the exact same as in "Life Is A Rock", or just hauntingly familiar?
-

I saw them do that in '78, except one guy had a key-tar.
-
I'm good with Jeans On. Happy.
-

they're def similar. That's "Jeans On", BTW. a British jeans commercial that became a song.

Y'know I thought the same thing for a sec, but then my brain kicked in and thought "wrong year. And we know Dave KNOWS what year Life is a Rock is..."
And I think it's an electric piano, probably a Fender Rhodes. They were big in the latter 70s.

They must have milked that schtick for awhile--I saw 'em do it in '79 at Cal Expo (topping the bill over Cheap Trick and Pat Travers--fun show!).
But that guy Buck Dharma can really play.
Trivia: What's Buck Dharma's real name? (No fair using the internet.)

post-set: Disco Dead for Alicat!
-
sadly, Annalisa, one of the MANY disappointing things about the remake of Godzilla was the fact that they didn't include the BOC song on the sndtk (subjecting us instead to that horrendous P.Diddy thing with the sample from "Kashmir").
-
Bonus: the Iggster, "Lust For Life". He's wortha million in prizes. Not to mention the resids from letting Carnival Cruises use the song in commercials.
-

His name is Donald Roeser, not exactly a demon-worshipping rock-star handle. Alicat's link above has the whole scoop.

3. Dobbie Brothers - Echoes Of Love
4. The Kinks - Sleepwalker
5. Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter
6. Foreigner - Cold As Ice
7. ABBA - Dancing Queen
8. Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop
9. Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla
10. David Dundas - Jeans On
BONUS TRACK: Iggy Pop - Lust For Life

I wonder, does he pronounces the "oe" in his german name like I do, as an 'ay', not as an 'oh'?
