This and Althea are about the only two songs we ever hear from this record, but I can't say there's much else of any note on Go to Heaven that'd I'd really like to hear. Maybe Don't Ease Me In, but certainly not Lost Sailor/Saint of Circumcision or either of the Brent tunes.

Dire Straits "Skateaway"

kinda segues well from the Police riffs.

80 is way to early for Bruce Hornsby, although it sounds like his sort of chording. I dunno, Steve Winwood?

I actually think this is a pretty good album, and Lost/Saint is a classic, but not for the unitiated.  Alabama Getaway was almost a big hit, and almost brought in the huge number of fans that "Touch of Grey" eventually did.  Those fans were derogatorily referred to as "touchheads!"

Of course, without Google, Bittan, from the E Street Band.  Great sound on this track.

Ding ding ding!  Which of course means that he also plays on the track before this, "Tunnel Of Love", as well as the unrelated Springsteen song of the same name.

I knew the song, but couldn't place the album.  Looks like it was on his Hits album, which I doubt I bought, since I pretty much have all his records anyway, and I guess it's from Urban Cowboy.

No, not a katrina at all, only the 2nd time in 27 months.  You're thinking of "Generals & Majors".  That's an Uber-Katrina at this point.

not quite sure why the Cars backlash, but if you like lead guitar, you've gotta like this song.

indeed -- Boz learned his lesson about soundtracks (after turning down Sat Nite Fever) and got himself on UC.

Besides, he's wearing that loud pink jacket on the cover!

My dislike for this song has nothing to do with the guitar--it's that damn yelpy voice that grates on me so.

One of the worst album covers ever.  Could easily have done to him what the "Rock Me Tonite" video did to Billy Squier.  I imagine that after the photo shoot, Linda Evans beat him up for the shoulder pads.

PS: What song was Boz going to contribute to SNF?

PPS: And that IS SO soft rock.   :D

the producers came to him and said "we'd like to use 'Lowdown'", and Boz replied, no thanks, not interested in being on any damn soundtrack album. An expensive decision, considering the 25 million+ copies it sold.

As a result, his manager convinced him to lease the song to Looking For Mr Goodbar which sold, like, 3 copies.  He did considerably better with Urban Cowboy.

Hearing the Police tune on the replay, I've always wondered WTF they're chanting in the song -- "Chuh! Chuh! Chuh!"?  There's a DJ on WLNG named Chuck Mackin who seems to think they're chanting "Chuck! Chuck!", and he plays it as a soundbite during his shows.

Funny, I have a friend named Ian Cha, and he always says it's a salute to him. (He says the same thing whenever we hear In a Big Country.)

Are Katrina songs, songs that you folks don't like or are they just songs that are played too much?? Or both??

They are songs that are played too much; often they're songs we once liked a lot but that have been run into the ground thru overexposure.

I would say it's a little of both.  Katrina is not a neutral term.  Some people reach a personal overexposure point very early on certain songs!
