Last first-run set of the week. Tomorrow we get a classic, since they're doing the "Morning Show on the Road" thing for New Artist month.
ETA: YAY!!!! 1972!!
And there goes Ali's hopes of a 72 set for her b-day in a few weeks. Sorry, Ali...
-
Immigration Man
looks like a nice set to drive to work by! See you hopefully before end of set!
-
instant BOS, Crosby/Nash "Immigration Man".
-
BOS and Proxy of Cairo to Mr. Steely Dan.

I'm guessing tomorrow's classic is a SI, SP, VT or som other theme set. Maybe the "horn rock" set for the umpteenth time.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
-
I was all set to BOS Paul Harvey, but major BOS for Children of the Revolution!!! Safe to call this a bustout, I think.

no, actually, that's one of my fave sets of all time.
BOS2 T-Rex! "Children of the Revolution"!!!
Dave musta rented Breakfast on Pluto recently...

Who is this? Thematically it smells of M. Bolan, but vocally it sounds more like Alice Cooper.
-
and (of course) BOS3 the Mighty 'berries.

Go with your first instinct on that one.

To which I add, Gaz, you really need to see Breakfast on Pluto -- a Gaz-tastic soundtrack if ever there was one.

BOS2 Yes, And You and I.
Duuuude, it's PROG ROCK!!
-
BOS4 Yes. Dude, it's GOOD Prog Rock!
-
Well, there's no denying this IS completely different.
Cue the moans!
(ETA: Would this qualify as a Narada? Any of you guys remember this from 72? Not I.)
-
I used to get all Ay! Que fievre! when Dave played the Chakachas, but now they're all played out. The gimmick done gone dry.
-
OY! Oy que fievre!
Dave's fave piece of runny '70s queso.
-
Que fievre JINX!
-
Que fievre JINX!
RRRRRRRRICO! SSSSSSSUAAAAAVE!
-
Anyone else notice that Dave faded Don out before "version," leaving it as just "the loooong . . ."? Cute.
-
well, the Doobs sure are a cold shower after all that fievre.
-
And now a nice, calming bit of pre-Yacht rock to have a post-Chacachas cigarette by...
-
BOS3: Todd!!
Gimme a break a second....
-
If Todd wins BOS I'm going to scream, even tho' I like "Hello..." very much.

Seriously? Where were you in '72? Not listening to Top 40 radio? 'cause it was a big hit.

Was totally listening to Top 40 as a 12-year-old in Sacramento, but I don't recall hearing it. Really.
-
I always confuse this "White Lies" song with the "White Lies, Blue Eyes" song (same year?). Which one was Nils Lofgren's band?
-
Some really really great tunes in this set, but save for the T. Rex, I kinda feel like I've heard it before.
Ah, I was thinking the Grin tune would finish the set, but hearing You Wear It Well is totally taking me back. Nice.

Pittsburgh oldies radio never played it; it's one of the many songs that Dave introduced me to.
Ooh! BOS3 to "You Wear It Well," which I'm hearing for the second time in three hours.

The one we heard today, Grin. White Lies, Blue Eyes is Bullet, not sure of the year. Mike?
-
just sounded right. I don't have any of his records, but he's unique enough (reminds me of Walter Egan a bit!) that I enjoy hearing him.

Hrm. I know there were stations that banned it as being too salacious. Needless to say it got play in NYC, and of course it was heard on Casey Kasem's AT40 as well.

Bullet was also '72 -- they only got as high as #28, surprisingly.

Ack. That Rundgren voting block just can't be defeated. I'd have been fine with either the Yes or Chacachas tunes. And I love Hello It's Me too. Just wish TR didn't dominate the way he does.

It's been around forever, just like porn!

Ditto.
And I repeat what I said yesterday -- how odd is it that Dave never plays Todd/Utopia's Deface the Music?

There's a lot of Todd's catalog, both with Utopia and solo, that never gets played. Really, the only song after about 78 we ever hear is Bang the Drum All Day. There was a self-titled Utopia album in 82 that had several tunes that would spice up any '82 set.

Bonus: Stones, "Happy".
