Title: KBCO, 8/2/06: 1971, yay!!!
Post by: mshray on August 02, 2006, 08:49:35 AM
KBCO just played a teaser from Ginger, she promises Floyd from Meddle!

She also tipped the trivia question, What album had held the record for longest stay on the Billboard charts before Pink Floyd's Dark Side broke it?

iirc, that was Johnny Mathis' Greatest Hits.

That's cute -- a commercial for Titan Auto Insurance uses Archie Bell's "Titan Up", er, "Tighten Up".

Any other songs come to mind that mention the Kentucky Derby?

Or Urth.  For a moment I thought this was the Floyd we were promised (I mean I though it was seriously obscure Floyd, not seriously obscure FMac.

James Gang no surprise, given they're promoting their reunion concert.

Still a great track.  Is that tour coming out here?  I could be tempted.

Dimes to Dollars Ginger not only plugs the show during the intermission, but also the fact that Joe will be Bret's guest tomorrow.

Wow, I'd never heard that Jeremy Spencer story.

Jeremy left to join The Children of God cult in mid-tour.  Peter Green re-joined the band to finish out the tour.  I wish I coould get some tapes of that.  Supposedly lots of jamming.

Good Lawd! BOS7 Ms. King, feelin' the earth move. To think this was the flip of "It's Too Late". Shoulda been an A-side in its own right.

I gotta give it to Ginger for the obscurities, capped off by her comment just now: "Bet you never thought there was a Pink Floyd song you could tap dance to."

ROTFL!

Damn, Muni picked a lousy day to melt down during the morning commute. I'd love to have heard any part of that set, although in all liklihood I'd have missed the FMac tune no matter what.

And re James Gang: So far as I know they're just playing one of the So. Bay wineries for a helluva lot of $ per ticket. I'd love to see 'em but not for the pile o' cash they're asking.
