I think it's '86 -- came in late, but here's Bryan & Tina.
-
VHM Dire Straits, "So Far Away"
-
Yep, '86 indeed. Led off with Iggy's Real Wild Child, then the aforementiond Messrs. Turner and Adams. And now we get an 85 song, So Far Away, but I assume the chart action rule is being invoked.

I'm multitasking on KINK's "Theme Thursday" -- I'll start a separate thread so Geoff doesn't yell.
-
BOS UB40, "Rat in Mi Kitchen", mon.

Yay! It's the full length version, BOS to Herb Alpert just for the trumpet solo.

one of the perks of being on A&M -- the boss plays trumpet for ya.

i may have to bos "invisible touch."
-
Glad I heard that UB40 before I had to split, doubt I'll miss anything better today here. But it's gonna be hard pulling myself away from the KINK stream. When will someone invent a way for me to stream in my car?
-
Can we just say from now on that any time Genesis appears in a 1982 or later set, they get a de facto WOS?

Obviously the princess disagrees. But I'm wit'cha, bro'.

I'd probably WOS Genesis anytime, but especially this.
Great segue

1986 was the year I graduated from High School (I guess this makes me a kid to most of you here). But this set wasn't that great. Actually most of the music from 1986 wasn't that great but I did like the Genesis tune. I would vote them WOS for the later part of the decade (with that awful "No Son of Mine" tune leading the way).

Not entirely! 8) I'm a 1991 alumnus, and the Princess of Cairo is a couple years younger than me. In general, the '80s weren't as bad as Dave remembers them.

Counting backwards we have heard them in the 2nd, 4th and 8th to last sets. Including today makes 4 out of the last 9. But just to be consistently inconsistent, Dave didn't play 'em for 9 months prior to Jan '05.

I was a couple of years out of college in '86, and very conscious that music that year sucked more than at any point in my life. I felt it got better in '87, and never bottomed out again like that, but I haven't even tried to listen to pop radio for the past decade plus.

I remember well the first time he played them -- we were all thrilled and they won BOS that day -- a sure sign of a future Katrina.
