tee hee! It would be nice to hear Graham Parker's version sometime, tho'. Speaking of, KPIG has been playing Parker's cover of "Pink Cadillac" lately.

BOS Joe Walsh, "In the City"
(I know it's the Iggles, but I seem to like Joe solo better these days)
greetings from the cool climes of the PNW, about 75 today here, how hot is it down there?

The city has cool down a bit, but the East Bay's still sizzlin'.
VHM Ian Gomm, can Bram Tchaikovsky be in the wings?
-
yay! more joe!!
-
Oh man, it's hot. I mean, it's hot. (Insert witty Rodney Dangerfield Joke here) Greg Kihn was sounding good there. But Joe Jackson is always a contender for BOS for me, especially stuff from Look Sharp.
-
I do look sharp, Joe, really I do!

As well you should--Joe rocked, the Eagles, not so much.
BOS Joe Jackson--for the second time this morning!
And it's a balmy 65 here in San Francisco's Inner Sunset District! (Working at home today.)
-
best drum break ever! during a piano solo, that is.

I never thought Ian Gomm sounded like Greg Kihn until you said that, but I can see it totally. Especially listening with headphones.
-
aack! itīs randy crawford!
-
Oooh! "Street Life" -- don't think I ever heard that intro before. Insert poc WOS here. But VHM from me.

Ian Gomm? I really didn't know. He's not one of those people you think about.

"she donīt like coke, and i donīt like wine..."
-
I've got a problem
can you relate?
Dave's playing one
of those Craptons I hate
Well, not my favorite EC anyway.
-
BOS Clapton, my 2nd favorite song on this album, after "The Core".
-
"she donīt like coke, and i donīt like wine..."
So is this Marcella or Whinyface on backing vox?

Is Dave Mason's "We Just Disagree" from this year or from '78?

I won't give it a BOS, but I do think it's a good, sad song. And I dig "The Core" too. Zero did a great version of it too. Ever heard of them? Included John Cippolina from Quicksilver Messenger Service among others. I have their (I think only) LP.
ETA: Looks like I was misinformed about Zero. They had a few albums.

both, i think. itīs hard to tell them apart sometimes. donīt tell marcy i said that. i can hear her clearly on "lay down sally," and "the core," though.

Neither--1977, from the Let It Flow album. Peaked at #12.

This is the second time you've mentioned the Shoreline Dan show. Can we surmise that you might be back here in time for the show? Or just wishing you were?
-
go, discocat, go!
-
davefish - are you going to shoreline next week???
I'm a frayed knot. I'll be in San Diego starting this Saturday for a week. Buuuuuuut, I'll be seeing SD in SD on Monday with my brother! I got eighth row seats for it, so I'm psyched. You'll still be in Europe, eh?

It's funny, but here is another disco song that I haven't heard for years, and I have to hear it in a differnet way than I did when I was 16. I mean back then in the Midwest I just had no idea that disco music intesected in anyway whatsoever homsexuality. I figured this song was either about someone too young to date, or a Romeo & Juliet sort of scenario.

Ya know, I never thought to take pictures at a concert. Is it even allowed for normal people?

Kind of hard to prevent with camera phones these days. I got some shots from that R.E.M. show where I was sitting next to you, but they didn't come out well enough to be worth mentioning at the time.

which is precisely why disco worked well for two completely different audiences.

Each show is different. The artist gives the yay or nay about photography. Camera phones are always OK as there is no flash. I'm waiting to learn if Roger Waters will allow pix at Shoreline.

Don't hold your breath--Waters is one uptight SOB, although I imagine there'll be some good photo fodder at that show.
Cheap Sunglasses is the bonus track! Yay ZZ Top!
-
damn, Foghead was given these options:
Zappa, "Joe's Garage"
Robert Gordon, "Black Slacks"
ZZTop, "Cheap Sunglasses"
...and he went with ZZ Top. I hate it when that happens.
ETA: an even better '79 bonus on CG right now: Specials, "A Message to You, Rudy"

Damn I didn't hear the choices because I was on the phone--yeah, ZZ was definitely the lesser of the three choices.

Anyone recall the parody on The Logical Song dealing with the late-70s fuel shortage? Dave played a bit of it during the break prior to actually playing TLS in today's set. I hadn't thought of it in ages, and now it's bugging the hell out of me.
Pretty decent set today. Wish I'd paid more attention this morning, but work was being work.

I'm so easily tempted. I just looked for tix at SHoreline for the show and 103 row H came up. Can't quite make the buy. Now POC, if you were here and would go with me....

Yes, I do remember it -- done by the remnants of a British group called the Kursaal Flyers, iirc. I have a fab forgotten 45 of theirs from '76 or so called "Little Does She Know".
