Ronnie Montrose "Town Without Pity"

I never know the names of insturmentals. I've heard this a lot - is it during the breaks on the stream?

Ronnie Montrose "Town Without Pity"
A BONE-afied Katrina, but not a KFOG one.
Ooops, here's Thud-der Island, a KFOG katrina if there ever was one.

See above. It's an old song by Gene Pitney.
I was just thinking we hadn't heard Thunder Island in a good while. Guess I jinxed it. At least it's not in the #10 slot for a change.
-
Hey, Thunder Island has always closed the sets.

Mighta been at one time. Of course, the original (vocal) version by Gene Pitney mighta been before your time
Aaaaack! "Thunder Island"!

That's exactly right.
How's life in Corvallis? Everyone ecstatic about the baseball team?

I like the song, but Dave seems to play it a lot. Especially on instrumental sets
-
Begin to Sadat: "I come across the desert to greet you with a smile..."
Nice work, Dave!
-
BOS Elvis on a Summer Holiday/follow me/call on me/swallow me.
-
"The Beat", after some unintelligible song by someone else!
potential BOS

Corvallis is great except for the 102° we had the past 2 days - the Beavers bring a little notoriety for us.
-
"The Beat", after some unintelligible song by someone else!
For shame! that was Squeeze. "Take Me I'm Yours"

Not lately. I think it's from the streaming that you get that impession. Last time Dave played this was Christmas Eve '04, a repeat of a set played in '02, and it's only in the Db one other time from '04. It is not in any of the 5 Strictly Instrumental sets we've had over the past 26 months.
But before I researched this I myself would have sworn it came up frequently.

Well, I don't listen to the BONE, and I don't listen to the stream. I guess I've just heard it a lot since it came out. It used to get played a lot when it was new.

I knew I'd catch hell from somebody! But it just goes to show how shallow they are, compared to someone like Elvis. They've always been pop candy in my book.

Bruce channeling Patti S. one more once. BOS2.
the parade of Morey faves continues with Sweet. but is it the looooooong version?
-
...but is it the looooooong version?
Yay, it is!

What, no love for Sweet? BOS for the long version of "Oxygen."
(Missed The Beat and the Bruce tune entirely--cow orker attack.

"Lawyers, Guns, and Money"
good tunes for cranky pants!
-
Maybe my favorite opening line of all-time: "I went home with a waitress, the way I always do."
-
What, no love for Sweet? BOS for the long version.
BOS for the long version of LILO, and BOS #2 for the uncensored version of LG&M.

BOS3 Heart, "Straight On".

Did anyone ever inform the folks at ABC when they ran that ad for Taxi, that everyone in their "cross-section of life's meting pot" was white!?
-
Taxi -- The guys are trying to get Jim Ignatowski a driver job... What kind of schooling do you have, did you take math, chemistry?.... Jim: "I took a LOT of chemistry"
-
BOS3 Heart, "Straight On".
Sounding good to me, too, but another appearance & this will be a bonafied Katrina in '78.
-
No, Dave, Teri DiSario isn't really good disco. Just obscure disco.
-

LOL!! I remember that & I can still hear Chris Lloyd's voice delivering the line (so to speak).

Taxi quiz: Which two cast members had bit parts in an earlier, mulitple-Oscar winning film?
-
BOS #3, Gerry Rafferty "Home And Dry".

Funny, I never connected that character with Lloyd! Must have been the hair.

Oh joy, another Live From The Archives week -- and 4th o' July is LFTA Day.

Well, that way they can program the whole day in advance and only have to pay an engineer to keep things running and maybe Mike Powers to give the occasional impression that someone human is there in the studio.

When Christopher Lloyd came up I glanced at his IMDb bio & saw that he won an Independent Spirit award for a film I'd never heard of called Twenty Bucks, which led me to Ebert's nice review here: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19940408/REVIEWS/404080304/1023. Anyone seen this? Sounds like one I'd enjoy, and the cast list is quite amazing (Gladys Knight, sans Pips & David Schwimmer pre-Friends, for two).

Never seen it, but it shows up on IFC and Sundance Channel occasionally.

Yep, rented it a number of years ago. Good flick, the premise is sort of like the Red Violin but a bit more umm, earthy?
