Title: Monday - Valentine's Day
Post by: mshray on February 14, 2005, 09:12:21 AM
Yes: "Heart Of The Sunrise"  (oh my heavens! haven't heard this since I had the vinyl)

I believe Geoff said before that Chris Squire was not a very 'in the pocket' bassist.  I don't know what that means but it sounds profound, and if it were true on whichever song he made that comment it is certainly true here.  The bass is all over the place, but I like it.

I had it on cassette -- anyone remember Record Club of America? they "licensed" albums from other companies and offered them cheap (as most record clubs do) and their cassettes were The. Absolute. Worst., with bleed-through of other albums in the background (I guess they used recycled, un-erased tapes).

Well, I certainly think you get the drift of 'in the pocket.'  The best bassists can both be 'in the pocket' and also play marvelous lines too.
