LOL!
'76 shows up every 3-4 weeks like clockwork, doesn't it? Praying for a breakout; Rob's '72 set really spoiled me today.

Will Boston do? Polaroid's loss was AOR's gain.

MMmmm, I can almost smell the Hawaiian Tropic and the Mexican dirt weed.
Boston in the #2 slot--we're hittin' all the biggies. What next? Wild Cherry?
-
ooh! Ms Phoebe Snow, "No Regrets", BOS. A Morey fave and something of a Narada; can't say I recall hearing this on NYC prog-FM in '76. Is this the same LP with her fine cover of Macca's "Every Night"?

Can't say I know (it was a Narada here too), but far better than either Frampton or Wild Cherry, for the sake of variety.
Ah, Genesis, when they were still mostly good. Robbery, Assault & Battery. A much better song instrumentally than lyrically, but Phil was still finding his own special way...
-
ah. the obligatory Network clip... Always scarily relevant Hooray for Mr. Chayevsky. He wrote it in his Golden Years.
-
one of the less than few guitarists who used an Alembic guitar to achieve that big rhythm sound.
-
VHM "Good Company", but didn't Dave play this in a recent '76 set?
ETA: He did, 3 '76's ago (March 22nd)
BOS2 Mr Joel, "NY State of Mind", in honor of the Mets being in first place, perhaps.
-
Hey Mike, here's one for you.
BJ, NYSOM.
-
BOS2 Mr Joel, "NY State of Mind", in honor of the Mets being in first plae, perhaps.
Or maybe the Yankees NOT.
Go Sox.

Ha!
FYI, BJ's NYSOM is the Mets' "win" song, just as the Giants play Tony Bennett and the Yanks play Sinatra's NYNY as a crowd-exit tune after they win.

Sadly, I spent that day at the hospital instead of at the show.
-
Vanessa Redgrave, You Sexy Thing. (Dave's channeling poc now)
And Mr Chayevsky (iirc) fires back!

BOS2 Paddy Chayevsky.
(How'd a guy named Chayevsky get a first name like "Paddy" anyway?)
-
proxy BOS for Ali, "Magic Man". He was Magic, and they were on Mushrooms. (well, Mushroom Records, at any rate)
-
Monday Morning from Hell so far, just now sitting at my desk, roughly two hours late. But I'll spare y'all the details.
thankful to hear You Sexy Thing & Magic Man, spirits inching back upwards...

from imdb:
"Sidney Aaron Chayefsky received his more familiar nickname of Paddy while in the army during World War II. One Friday night, pork was being served in the mess hall. Rather than eat food forbidden him as an orthodox Jew, he said, in a put-on Irish brogue, that he was forbidden from eating meat on a Friday. His fellow soldiers, amused by this, started calling him Paddy, and the nickname stuck."
-
BOS3 to the underrated Bellamy Bros. Check out "Old Hippie" sometime and be amazed that such a lyric was a major country hit.
-
bonus: "Blitzkreig Bop"! Tho' I was rooting for "X Offender"...

Well I just got some news that made my Monday Morning from Hell even worse, but at the same time it kinda washed the other stuff away.
Most of you have met my brother Chris, well for the past year plus we have known that his father-in-law was dying of cancer, and a few minutes ago Chris called me to say that early this morning he passed. So spare a few thoughts for him & his family today down in San Diego. According to Chris everyone is taking it pretty well, and they've all been as prepared as they can be for something like this. But still, today is the day.

Man, sorry to hear about the loss in your extended family. Def. sending positive vibes in your/their direction.
And sorry about your sucky Monday morning in general.

Sorry. Best wishes to Chris and family. Hope Tuesday is better for you. Any luck with Cisco?
Nothing is happening for me. I need to work harder for it. I will be out of touch Wednesday. Going to the Giants day game. Just what the doctor ordered.

BTW, listening last nite it suddenly struck me that the Redgrave/Chayevsky clips were from the wrong year! Redgrave won for Julia, released late '77, and the ceremony was April '78. (Since ol' Paddyhad won the previous year for Network, it made sense he'd be a presenter in '77/'78.)

No news yet, still hoping & praying.
