That's what I get for trying to work and post a clever first post at the same time. Sorry, Andy.
And before I forget. BOS1 to Roxy's Love is the Drug. Another example of the bassline carrying the melody, although I can't recall what the other one we talked about was.
-
VHM Doobs, reaching higher on the chart with this one than Kim Weston's orig ever did.
-
VHM Doobs.
-
BOS George, limited lyric tho' it may be.
-
BOS2 You. Great song from an otherwise inconsequential album.
-
BOS2 Tavares, a '70s soul classic.
-
VHM Sister Golden Hair.
BFOS

Actually, I got so damn depressed on Monday, but I set my sights on Tuesday....
...and now I feel a whole lot better.
-
Pretty decent set so far, although still lacking a killer bustout. If we're not going to get one, then I'm thinking a BeeGees tune (Nights on B'way, Jive Talkin') would put this set over the top.
-
least necessary: America, one of Dave's fallback '75 Katrinas. Much as I loved it then, I've heard it a few too many times.
-
VHM Sister Golden Hair.
BFOS
Best Falafel of Set? Best Farting?
-
BOS Miracles
-
oh my, BOS3 "Miracles", Proxy for the Gaz Man.
-
VHM Sister Golden Hair.
BFOS
Best Falafel of Set? Best Farting?
eh? flashback. wait! flatulence
-
Somebody tell Gaz to cancel his plans for 1am tonight. He suddenly would like to hear this set.
ETA: Hoping for the long version.
-
Ain't nothing better, ain't nothing better.
-
If that guy only knew how many Vietnamese guys in SF have "sugar daddies"! LOL!
-
This is one of those Todd tunes where I will give it a BOS along with all the other Fogheads.
-
Dave's just itching to get inundated with BOS votes--we've had a lot of songs that are past BOS winners (Tavares, America, Sweet, Starship, and now Todd)--is this the Big 75 BOS-off Set?

From my POV, more of a Katrina-off  But I'm wearing the crankypants today.
-
We all want to be popular.
-
Probably a Katrina, but I still love the Rockford theme.

and as if on cue... Mike Post!
-
And another for the Gaz-man: Number 9 Dream. Oh well, BOS4 or 5 from me. Didn't Ginger whip this one out last week too?
-
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Best indecipherable foreign lyric of set.
-

It's all working quite nicely. Love Rockford too.
Dreamy set.
-
The buzzer is gonna sound harsh after that.
-
Jose rears his ugly head again.
And it's Todd, as expected.
-

I love it when Ginger whips out her poussé
-
Good Foghead: he requested "Thunder Road"
Bad Foghead: he called it "stupid & juvenile"
-
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Best indecipherable foreign lyric of set.
Literally indecipherable: There is no translation of that in any known language. And I prefer to think that John wasn't engaging in juvenile wordplay antics with "poussé."
Yeah, I'm gonna want to hear this on the replay, even if I'm lacking someone to sing "Miracles" to, or about. :(
-
VHM Doobs, reaching higher on the chart with this one than Kim Weston's orig ever did.
Also notable for marking the entrance of Jeff "Skunk" Baxter to the Doobs.

well then, John was saying "push push in the bush"!

6/13/2006 - Tuesday! Good times in...1975!!
1. Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
2. Roxy Music - Love is the Drug
3. Doobie Brothers - Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)
4. George Harrison - You
5. Tavares - It Only Takes a Minute
6. America - Sister Golden Hair
7. Jefferson Starship - Miracles
8. Todd Rundgren - Real Man (BEST OF SET!!)
9. Mike Post - Theme From the Rockford Files
10. John Lennon - #9 Dream
BONUS TRACK: Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
Catching the replay, I had missed most of the first half of the set on Tuesday with phone call interruptions. F'rinstance, I woulda BOS'ed George if had heard it.

Considering what they had to choose from, the TODD-IS-GODD contingent should have its voting privileges rescinded. :o

I gotta say I agree, and I vote for Todd pretty frequently myself. But with the riches that this set offered, I mean, c'mon, Toddheads--don't be so damn predictable and take a flyer on something different for a change. (For the record, the only vote I tendered to Dave was for the George Harrison tune, although I could have easily gone for the Starship, Roxy Music, or Lennon songs as well.)
Yesterday's 68 set was good, but this was the set of the week, imho.
